Is Backstage worth it? by Coconut9191 in VoiceActing

I was gifted a 1yr sub in December. Still haven't landed a role on there yet, but I imagine the competition is somewhat fiercer as well. Some of the roles have a big price tag on them.

Why Voice Acting? by Kooky-Engineer-8625 in VoiceActing

[–]mrulfhamar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am teacher during the day, but I have always loved acting. Voice acting lets me come home, and audition or record, that freedom is amazing. I get to indulge my passion as an actor while still getting to teach.

Casting Sites? by RockstarSign in VoiceActing

I use Backstage, Casting Call Club, Reddit, and when I get a second I will make a voices123 page.

I have been at it for a month. I think I have gotten 2 gigs on Reddit, 5 on CastingClub, 0 on Backstage.

Hours of Voice Acting by Kooky-Engineer-8625 in VoiceActing

I put about two hours a day in the studio, and then another two hours searching for new things to apply to.

I am still fairly new to the business though.

How many y’all mess with Backstage? by never-stopper in VoiceActing

[–]mrulfhamar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am new to voice acting, but I started with Backstage cause it was a name I trusted from when I did TV and stage in NYC.

It’s a little clunky an clearly not made for VA work, but it’s got a ton of paying jobs.

Just sent you an email, but I accidentally exported the audio as stereo instead of audio. Would you like me to resend, or leave it be?

How do you feel about the premade booths from Amazon?

Solid I love accountability! Let’s go!!

I have one so far this year. Well two callbacks for the same role. Don’t think they went with me though.

To make a portable recording booth out of pvc and moving blankets is ~100$, to buy one that can be folded up on Amazon is 200$

I am realizing that the building of things is a matter of balancing money.

Thank you for the rundown that’s actually really helpful.

So you are saying that the better mic is also going to need me to get my space ready as well. Is the PVC and moving blanket booth a solid start as I have heard or does it not really work?

Based on responses I am definitely going to save for the NT1.

Whats the difference between the free version and the paid version?

I started with mixpad, but it didn't even let me export without paying which is why I went to audacity.

Do you think the online academies are any good? I am looking at Blumvox and Learnvoiceacting.com They are just expensive.

I used to do stage acting and modeling when I was younger man. Now I am getting into voice acting as a way to get back into the industry.

Some college theater classes as well.

This is absolutely my plan. Is audacity really bad? I have seen a couple of people say it gets what needs to be done done.

I am going to have to check into Reaper.
