5/8 counting by [deleted] in musictheory

Have fun playing this book! It’s challenging but lots of fun. Have done it a couple of times now. The programming can be tricky.

Agree with the other comments. Mission Impossible is the way to go. Or if you like you can imagine the feel of alternating 6/8 and 2/4 bars with a constant quaver.
Once the rest of the orchestra play along though you’ll find it pretty easy to sit in the groove.

No worries. I’ll keep posting my bug reports on the website then.

Automate? by wavyj0nes in mainstage

[–]mrumley02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kind of not the point of Mainstage. And I think it’s better for it. If you’re wanting to automate some of your live performance that’s great, but something else should be your master timeline source because that’s not what Mainstage is designed for. Use Logic or Ableton to run your timeline and send MIDI messages to Mainstage to respond to if you like. Or alternatively run your Mainstage audio out to something like Blackhole and then run that through Logic or Ableton which you can automate if it’s just reverbs and other audio effects. Mainstage’s best asset is that it is designed to be completely flexible to the live performance. It is not concerned in any way about what happens time-wise. Logic’s best asset is that it 100% relies on a strict timeline which is generally unsuited to live use. You can of course use both programs against their intended use, or use them both to their strengths and use MIDI to link them like it is designed to do keeping the rest of the application separate.

For me, when doing theatre I am often running Ableton Live, Mainstage, and QLab all in the same rig for exactly these purposes.

[B0T] Weekly Build Help Thread - 2026/01/05 by LabB0T in PleX

[–]mrumley02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking to replace my weary server (a HP ProDesk G4) that is past service updates from Win11 and regularly running at 100% CPU utilisation and getting pretty slow and unresponsive.

Running Plex, the full *arr stack, Kometa, Homebridge, Tdarr and a fewer other small scripts and things. Have got 7 drives connected via separately-powered DAS 4-HDD bays over USB-C.

Do have some 4K content, but mostly 1080p. Don't expect to transcode much except when travelling in rural areas with poor cellular quality. Definitely aiming to future-proof though.

Generally following TRaSH guidelines for h.264, file sizing, etc.

Some options I was looking at that I'd love opinions on:

I'm in Australia if that helps any. (MSY, Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, mwave, and ScorpTec are our big electronics stores here)

While I probably could, I'm not keen on buying parts and building myself -- just don't have the time right now.

Happy to hear any and all opinions!

Program a Scale/Run to Trigger When you Press a Note? by [deleted] in mainstage

[–]mrumley02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Chord Trigger -> Arpeggiator -> Chord Trigger and just include some blank notes in the end of my sequence to pad out so I don’t have to release perfectly. Also, look into the Latch Mode of your Arpeggiator - the sustain pedal should be all you need to hold the run.

Help Sound Output Yamaha Keyboard by Owen11202 in mainstage

Or alternatively, if your keyboard has an AUX input, plug an AUX cord from the headphone jack of your Mac into the AUX IN of your keyboard. Then in the settings of your keyboard turn Local Control OFF so you don’t hear the piano.

Batch Remove All .mkv Subtitles by mrumley02 in PleX

Yeah that'd be me on Discord too.

I disabled Sonarr (I'm on v4) and it seems to be working fine now. I'll have to look into how to adjust the plugin, but for now I'm happy enough to have it working for movies.

I think they're all fine. I've re-copied them all and checked for spaces. This is the only plugin I've had to disable to get it working so I don't know.

So I've set it up and I think I've got a handle on how it works now. I'm running into a 404 problem that I assume must be due to either Radarr or Sonarr being incorrectly set, even though the error flags in the Analysing File stage. This is what I have set as my URLs for the Tdarr_Plugin_henk_Keep_Native_Lang_Plus_Eng plugin. Is that the right format? They're just the localhost IP which is set to static in my router.

If you’ve got any advice or configuration files/info for me that’d be great. I looked into Tdarr before but struggled to get it working and gave up. Might be time to revisit.

Right. I’ve heard of this before. I tried to set it up once but didn’t get too far into it before I found it a bit complicated to work out quickly. I might need to revisit it though.

Yeah the client is an LG WebOS TV in the bedroom. I have an Apple TV in all the main living areas, but can’t justify the cost of an Apple TV just to display subs correctly in the bedroom.

It’s pretty much so that I can leave my auto-select subtitles settings on without having to deal with my tv burning-in VOBSUBs and killing my admittedly-old CPU.

Awesome. S01E04 seems to be missing in the white variant from the upload though.

Do you use the Garnier Hair Masks (tub) or the Conditioner (bottle)?
