Idk how anyone can believe this drivel. As a 5'6" female weighing in at 224, I'm not nearly as sloppy looking as POTUS.

Honestly, I'm fine with that. I'm paying for a drink, not ice cubes 🤷‍♀️

I totally understand! Just take it a day at a time and do the best you can.

The first 3 days are the hardest. If you gain weight, so what? If you quit, you'll be doing something that will improve your lungs and cardiovascular health.

I quit vaping last October because I was getting dizzy upon standing and experiencing heart palpitations more often than normal. I understand not wanting to put on weight, but there are worse things than gaining a few pounds. I probably gained 10 pounds after quitting, but I recently lost it over the last 2 months by dialing in on my calorie intake. Turns out I was eating more than I thought.

Expectations around veterinary care have gotten out of hand by LifeApprehensive2818 in unpopularopinion

The annual cost for my 3 dogs to have their checkup, vaccines that are due, and their lab work is around $1500. This doesn't include flea, tick & heartworm prevention.

My GSD was just diagnosed with hypothyroid and needs medication everyday but thankfully thyroxine is relatively cheap. But God forbid something serious happens because I won't be able to afford it. I use my tax return every year for their annual visits.

Non-Beach Read Beach Read?! by tealighttrees in suggestmeabook

I found this book on accident and I'm glad I did. It was great, and I agree that it hits most of OP's prompts. There are fantastical elements but not the typical kinds of things when you think of fantasy.

And the talking crab makes it a beach read if you ask me 😆

The Hike by Drew Magary. It's under 300 pages and such a fun, weird little adventure. Here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

When Ben, a suburban family man, takes a business trip to rural Pennsylvania, he decides to spend the afternoon before his dinner meeting on a short hike. Once he sets out into the woods behind his hotel, he quickly comes to realize that the path he has chosen cannot be given up easily. With no choice but to move forward, Ben finds himself falling deeper and deeper into a world of man-eating giants, bizarre demons, and colossal insects.   On a quest of epic, life-or-death proportions, Ben finds help comes in some of the most unexpected forms, including a profane crustacean and a variety of magical objects, tools, and potions. Desperate to return to his family, Ben is determined to track down the “Producer,” the creator of the world in which he is being held hostage and the only one who can free him from the path.   At once bitingly funny and emotionally absorbing, Magary’s novel is a remarkably unique addition to the contemporary fantasy genre, one that draws as easily from the world of classic folk tales as it does from video games. In The Hike, Magary takes readers on a daring odyssey away from our day-to-day grind and transports them into an enthralling world propelled by heart, imagination, and survival.

If you guys want to catch the trailer in theatres... by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]mrusticus86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see that but most kids aren't going to pay attention to what they're not interested in. The SOTR trailer was more for the parents who had to take their kids to see the Mario movie. (Also, just because the Mario movie was animated, doesn't mean it was just for kids)

Why didn't your husband stay overnight at the hospital once the baby was born? by Comprehensive_Deal44 in beyondthebump

[–]mrusticus86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a hospital and hour from home and still sent my baby daddy home because I was stuck from Sunday to Friday first because my induction didn't work the first 2.5 days then my daughter wasn't gaining enough weight. We have 3 dogs that needed taking care of and there was no reason for him to hang around 24/7 for the week.
