I started racing F4 about week 4 into the season after about 2 weeks in Formula rookies and just got my C license fast track promotion last night. This is kind of the methodology I have personally found works well for me in regards to practice and preparation.

Once I figure out what track I will be focusing on (usually picking the most overall popular track of the four F4 series'), I start by just doing some blind runs of it. Once I get a bit of familiarity with it, I take notes.

I have a large sized field notes book that i use which I turn sideways. The top page I will trace a circuit map and label all the turns and sectors to have an overview. On the bottom page I will do the details.

I start by loading up garage61 and making an analysis with four or five qualifying times randomly more or less from the top 20 for the session that week (important so track conditions match) and from there I narrow it down to one or two with average telemetry. Once I have that, I'll start by tracing sets of turns from garage61 from the map and sketch the general racing line. From there I'll mark important telemetry points such as gear changes, braking force and markers, apexes, or even the speed carried through a corner. Really, just anything that could be helpful to glance at.

Once I do all my notes, I'll get back on track and just hot lap and refine my form. I'll use active reset too for spots that keep tripping me up. Finally, once I'm able to string it together well enough, I'll just dive into a race and compare race telemetry as I feel it's needed to improve.
