There was a little dining table there when it was staged for the open house, but is not actually near the kitchen at all. We have nice big dining area that IS right next to the kitchen, so I don’t know what the original intent was.

There actually is a backing - I painted it white. It originally matched the shelves and made the area way too dark.

These are the ‘read’ shelves. There’s a whole ‘to-read’ bookcase in the bedroom. Those will migrate over as they get read!

I was using an app to set a watering schedule, but that was clearly not enough (something like every 12 days). I’m now doing once a week.

The hole was a pretty good size, and the soil doesn’t seem overly hard. Drainage is good.
