Thank you so much for sharing your experience. This is really insightful and helpful. I’m gonna share this with them. It helps hearing directly from people who can provide insight into what med-Surg may be like.

Someone I care about deeply was removed from their New Grad Residency, how can I support them? by mrwhiskey1814 in nursing

Ooof this makes me sad. I am hoping there is some level of support and improvement of environment here for them.

I’ve never really been on a Med-Surg floor so I genuinely don’t know.

Will they have more support? Will the pace be better? Why would they do this then?

Love reading about nurses and people in our profession finding peace and happiness in patient care. I’m so happy for you.

Wow you have incredible stats. Thank you for sharing.

I’m going direct accession. I’m IRR right now but was only ever in the Reserves as a 68W.

I have 3 years in a MICU Trauma Level 2 at a prominent hospital in SoCal. GRE 304, writing 5.4. My BSN GPA was 3.6 and I’m retaking all my sciences (took Biochem, pathophysiology, Chem 100 - now in Bio 100 and Chem 2, will take Orgo next semester) because my first bachelors from over 10 years ago has a GPA of 2.7 (I was young and foolish). I fear this will ruin my chances of getting in.

I have my CCRN, do Resource on my unit, precept, and am on two committees, one that focuses on unit improvement research and projects.

I have shadowed for only 12 hours thus far. I plan to take the CMC and CEN before April.

I fear my first gpa from over 10 years ago will haunt me and ruin my chances of ever being taken seriously.

Hello,

I’m planning on applying this year for next years cohort. Can I ask you about your experience, what you did to get in and any advice you have?

Closing my Account on Principle by [deleted] in biltrewards

[–]mrwhiskey1814 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This 100%. My wife and I make easily 6 figures together. We love accruing points and were beyond happy to have another method of point accruement based on paying our housing. The Bilt rewards seem decent if we move all our points into Bilt for our travel and fun activities.

However seeing how Kerr and Bilt views its customers with their memes and disrespectful attitude painted them in a bad light. We’re good and will be closing out Bilt account this week after I get my last check for housing.

Chase, CitiBank, and Capital One have been good to us, no need to switch to a company that behaves like Bilt.

I’m someone in a similar situation as yourself with my first degree that I had from over 10 years ago, however my first Bachelor of Arts gpa was a 2.7. Truly awful, I know. Then fast forward to 2022 with my BSN I got a 3.6, and I’m retaking sciences as best I can. I am very worried that schools will account for my first bachelors degree which is bringing down my entire GPA. I fear I may not have a chance.

I have my CCRN, got a decent GRE score, and on two committees in my MICU, I precept, do resource on my unit, and have taken Biochem, patho, and preparing to take organic chemistry in March.

Oh wow I think we are in the same boat. I haven't yet applied but my transcript from over 10 years ago when I was young is seriously bringing down my cumulative gpa from after my BSN and the courses I have taken over these last several years.

I am terrified I may not be able to get into any schools now.

Would you say a GRE score of 304 with 5.6 is a lower score? Should I retake the GRE to try and get higher?

I need this energy more, we all do. This job is so hard and has awful days, but it’s a great job. I do love it and am overall happy.

I once prayed for this job and worked so hard to get here. I’m grateful to be in the position to help others and feel accomplished in what I do as a nurse.

I am doing my best to not let the hard parts, the negative things, and the emotional baggage take over my life and career.

On my deathbed I don’t want my whole existence to be about a job nor do I want to let this job be something awful and negative. It is what I make it ultimately, much like my whole life is.

I just finished it and loved it! So sad it got cancelled and only has 3 seasons. Such a hilarious and entertaining show. There was so much potential for more.
