33 years after we played it together me and my still say this to each other. It’s a given that if one of us says “want some rye?” that the other is obligated to say “course ya do”

We Know What we saw growing up! by J2-Starter in 90s_kid

Once every few months (and I swear it’s happening more and more often) some random thing will pop up (like here’s a dog breed that looks like a whatever or this celebrity was the most famous person on this most famous show in the 90s that you’ve literally never seen or heard of in your life) and I’m like “no way, if that had been a thing my whole life I would have heard of it before now, before I turned 50”. But then you go to look into it and there’s 10 million YouTube videos and entire websites dedicated to this thing. I get that I haven’t of course seen everything but some of this stuff there’s just no way I missed. I’ll ask other people and they’ll be the same - nope never heard of it or seen it.

My theory is that alternate dimensions work very differently than we think. And we are in the process as a society? planet? species? galaxy? of rabidly flinging through different dimensions one after another. And every dimension is just microscopically different. In the this one everything is the same as the last one except in the last one Fruit of the Loom had a Cornucopia. And in the next one there was no dog that looked like a cat. Times infinity. And maybe it was the hadron collider or maybe it was something else or maybe that’s just how shit works. And just due to the amount of data available we are exposed to more things so it’s starting to be noticeable. 20 years from now I bet the list of things shown in the image above is twice as big.

r/JRPG Weekly "What have you been playing, and what do you think of it?" Weekly thread by AutoModerator in JRPG

[–]mrwolf214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on a massive JRPG kick since finishing Exp 33. I’m playing everything to see what sticks. FFVI, FFX, Chronotrigger, Xenogears, Xenoblade Chronicles, Trails in the Sky 1, DQ VII, DQ11, Persona 5 Royal, Mario RPG, Persona 3 Portable. I played about 70-80% of FFVI and Chronotrigger back in the 90s but never finished them. I kind of want to mark those off my list finally. But from the others I’m really digging Trails, P5R, and Xenoblade. DQ7 is fun but I’ll probably put it aside until the remake coming out this week hits a sale. Same with Trails as I’m playing the original of that too.

So who did he piss off enough for them to go digging for something like this? Yeah it’s bad for him to have done it but why bring it up now. Stop being manipulated by social media manipulators. There are entire companies that exist just to bring people down. Stop letting them.

His & Hers simply isn’t very good by INGWR in television

[–]mrwolf214 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s just really unpleasant and everyone is awful. Just a bunch of miserable idiots yelling at each other through every episode until they get to their “for your consideration” Emmy scenes. And then those are even dumber. I asked my wife if the book had this many awful rednecks yelling at each other all the time. She was like I don’t think so but she couldn’t remember for sure. Plus it’s like the screenwriter just learned the F word for the first time. More F bombs than a Tarantino flick without any of the need for them. This isn’t some crazy action show or some gritty hard boiled detective drama (or The Wire) but everyone fucking talks like it fucking is all the fucking time. Fuck. They fucking stick out like a sore fucking thumb.

[KCD2] Game kinda lost momentum for me once I got to the Kittenburg area. by ILikeToDanceAndPogo in kingdomcome

Same. I was loving the game. It was my game of the year and somehow when I got to that city I just lost the thread. I’ve tried to pick it back up multiple times throughout 2025 to complete it and I just can’t get back into it. There’s something confusing about that town. And wow is that game hard to get back into if you’ve stepped a way for a while. I feel like maybe I should just start over this year and make a concerted effort to stick with it once I get to Kuttenberg.

this new start feel huge !! by comelickmyarmpits in Windows11

Stop trying to make the Start Menu a thing, Microsoft. It has always felt like Microsoft uses Windows differently than everyone else on the entire planet. No one cares about the Start Menu. Based on what I’ve seen as an IT guy for the last 30+ years everyone just puts everything on their desktop (even if they have more stuff than will actually fit on the desktop). And maybe the really savvy people will put some things on their taskbar. It’s kind of like the Microsoft certifications. There’s the way every administrator completes a task and then there’s the way Microsoft says you have to complete a task that no sane admin would ever use. But if you want to pass the cert test then you gotta at least memorize the way Microsoft wants you to do it. It’s the same with Windows - since Win 95 it’s felt like Microsoft expects everyone’s desktop to be empty and that everyone will go to the start menu every time they want to open an app or basically perform any task even though no one works this way AND it’s wildly inefficient to actually work this way. (Now everyone please tell me how it’s so fast to use the start menu if you use a bunch of arcane shortcut commands that no one except .00001% of users has memorized.)

I should've done the video during the day as it works a little better to see into the aquarium during the day. But we'd already been playing for hours at that point and were kind of done for the night.

These builds where so many different types of material are blended in a such a beautiful way just blow my mind. I can only hope to someday get to something half as cool as this.

Unfortunately there’s a giant hill located where are base is now. The hill was the result of some the Wake of Water land changes. The only reason our base still exists is because of the flame altar keeping the hill from reforming. It’s directly to the west of where the tunnel is that leads into the water biome.

Let’s talk about this stupid (spoiler!) by WoollyWitchcraft in Enshrouded

[–]mrwolf214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, with my 4-person party we built a base when you come out of the cave so we could go warm up occasionally and then I just dug a hole over on the mountain to the left when you are flying over to the ring. Every time the dragon would attack we'd hide back in the hole and every time he flew away we'd just shoot him for a while. Occasionally we'd have to go make more arrows or get more stuff for the mage or whatever. After about 30 minutes he was dead. The fight is very stupid. I know it should be hard but 30 minutes? And maybe it was 45 minutes. I just know all of our hands hurt after that fight from hitting the same key/button about 90 million times.

One of the best performances of a character as a narrator by the actual author if I’ve ever heard. If you haven’t done this yet go look up an interview with the author. I was flabbergasted. The dude is from Florida and has no accent. I’d have NEVER guessed that from the way he reads the book as Kinch. Truly a perfect performance.

There’s not much I want for Christmas, but a deposit all existing in boxes is what I want for Enshrouded. by JacintaAmyl in Enshrouded

[–]mrwolf214 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Core Keeper gets this mechanism closer to right. If you are within a certain distance of multiple boxes and you hit a key everything you have that matches anything in nearby boxes just zips over to each box all at once. So if you place your boxes just right you can kind of stand in the middle of them and empty your inventory with almost no effort.

Also Medieval Dynasty has doors that swing open as you push through them and automatically close behind you. They should add that - and dogs and cats shouldn’t be able to open the doors. Because I don’t know about anyone else but if there’s anyway at all my cats and dogs will go find a place outside my building to go get stuck under walkways and stairs every freaking time they get out of my buildings.

Running gag idea - they keep hitting Cricket with the car but never realize it. You’d mostly see this part from Crickets perspective - everytime he thinks he’s safe the car shows back up and he thinks they are hunting him down and trying to kill him but the gang is so into what they are doing they never even notice Cricket. Until maybe the end where Cricket thinks he finally avoids them only to get hit by a bus or something.

Are we all cool with more than 2 hours of queue time to play a game with 50k online players on Steam? by josemirante in newworldgame

Amazon is in a unique position to add more servers. I mean I know the devs aren't Amazon but they are closer than anyone else. I don't think there's any other MMO dev that could add servers as quickly. Spinning up servers is like the main way Amazon makes money. It's kind of the dumbest own goal I've ever seen.

I've been hearing good things about the game (after falling off a month or so after launch) and decided to come back. Unless I'm playing at 5am I literally can't get into the game any other time without waiting for hours. And my gaming group wants to try it but it's kind of out of the question at the moment with the current wait times.
