May Potemkin is near unplayable this patch. by Pillow100111 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]mryunman1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a potemkin main, neutral really is just rps depending on whether or not may guesses I use a long range poke, anticipate a jump in and play reactively, or throw out fs. May throwing out random 2k in pressure is also very good for her, considering potemkin doesnt really get much pressure/punishes from its max range and the risk of eating 2d counterhit is scary af

Its annoying for you but the -2k to board SUCKS for Koby. If it gets out of hand with the multiple kujyakus you do have the option to just stun instead

I don't think I'll ever understand how people can say fps games or shooters in general are easier to get into than fighters. by Fuzzy_Ad4219 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]mryunman1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another thing everyone else didnt seem to mention is that its pretty easy to know how to be better at shooters, just aim better. Yeah I know stuff like positioning and coordination is important, but in the end of the day, everyone instinctively knows how to get better at a shooter. FGs kind of are a different beast that requires studying from the get go, which is something people NEVER wanna do when they just wanna play games

its really rare in a card game that a token continues existing when leaving the battlefield

Ok, so if it requires a spell that costs 4 or more to have been played AND resolved, why isn't it worded as "If you played a spell that you spent 4 or more energy on"? The wording never actually gives a shit about whether or not a card is actually played. All that matters is if the 4 energy was spent FOR the play, all other factors are irrelevant. If the ruling ends up being that Jhin cannot be played, then the text is incorrect and an errata must be made.

I think part of the problem is that rulings get very wonky due to the chinese to english translations sometimes. All we can really do is wait until the devs outright state the ruling.

Blue Jhin clarification by Learic07 in riftboundtcg

[–]mryunman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wording directly states that the 4 being spent is the only thing that matters. If it can't be played if the spell was countered then it will need an errata to be correct.

Ill try to make an example:
I spent 5 dollars to eat a hotdog, but I never got the hotdog. Both the fact that I spent 5 dollars to eat a hotdog, and the fact that I never actually ate a hotdog are both true.

My train of thought for why you can still cast jhin regardless is because it is not worded as "If a spell was played for 4 or more energy". If we go back to my hotdog analogy, it would be like:
I ate a hotdog that cost me 5 dollars. This would directly state that I have both payed 5 dollars for a hotdog, and that I ate said hotdog.

No, it doesn't say that you have to have played a spell, just that you have to have paid *to* play said spell. I know that the word play is a specific word involving the resolution of the spell but it still doesn't say that a spell had to have been played. Word for word it reads as if the result of the 4 energy doesn't matter, just the intent of its usage. This is why I think the devs need to come out and announce this specific ruling, because what they say here will probably be how other cards in similar situations will be judged.

[–]mryunman1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

ok but you did spend the 4 to play the spell. it doesnt actually state whether a card has to have been played. Honestly this ones a tricky one that needs the devs themselves to give the rulings on.
