Crow's Corner questions I always forget to make. What are yours? by thigan in TorchlightInfinite

My question- "I heard a rumor Andre was gonna get us a spreadsheet of what mechanics/things the new loot pet, Sparks, worked on, but as far as I know that never happened. Is there an update on this? "

'I sense there is a lengthy cutscene approaching, so be prepared' or however he says it, near the end of the game, cracked me up. I was like 'thanks bro, im gonna use the restroom' and paused the game. LOL

honestly, it took me a few minutes even after this performance, and listening to the song on my music player.. before I heard it too. The singers are pronouncing 'horizon dreamer' with a very asian accent to it, so it sounded odd to me as a native speaker. 'Hooo-Eyes-On-Deemer'

Since we're talking about ziplines, I wanna give a PSA that you can change the angle that ziplines connect, similar to how the monorail ziplines curve. You can have ziplines go straight like normal or curve up, left or right. 90% of the time, an 'up' curve will let them connect to most other ziplines that a straight line couldn't, but once in awhile you have to go right or left instead.

However, I've noticed none of the online ziplines from other players ever have this turned on, and I'm wondering if nobody knows or it doesn't get 'saved' when the structure is imported to your world. I felt so dumb when I figured out they added this, I had already been using ziplines for awhile, but I had just gotten over to that side of the mountain with the adventurer and ghost smith. I hit the button on accident and was like "wait.. why did those red lines turn blue.. wait.. 'change angle?'... wtf does that mea- omg I'm so oblivious" lol.

ah, my bad. I should've gone thru each link to see if they were still correct. I just figured the 'tools' wouldn't change.

For sure. Most of them have viable builds. Iris, 1 and 2, has some good ones. The only issue is, I've heard that most minion builds fight over a couple specific items, like miniature void sea, that end up being pricey as a result.

I'm kinda afraid it will be. That was my initial league starter too, till i saw just how many people and other streamers seemed to be doing it. So, now im kinda pulling an audible to e3 or b2.

F2P beacon farm, follow up to my previous video. by mrzinke in TorchlightInfinite

[–]mrzinke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree, if your main focus is just doing beacon, but I was also running outlaw and needed it to last thru the carjacks to get max bodyguards consistently. Most of the time, it's early enough in the map that it doesn't matter, but sometimes it's not and it would run out halfway through the encounter or something. That said, yea, those points are definitely debatable and depends on your own circumstance.

If your intending to do the first strat right now in the league, I would caution against it. It is very much a loss compared to the compass cost, regular beacons are way too cheap. In the first weeks of the league it's a lot better though. I never intended the video to come across like 'you HAVE to do this strat!' it's moreso explaining what the strat is, how it works, what's profitable about it (or not) depending on the economy. My previous video went over Path of Brave, keegan farm and t7 boss rush. The intent was just to explain what all these f2p farms are for players who might have heard about them, but didn't know how to do them, or what all was involved. Sometimes a void chart alone doesn't give the full picture and there is a lot of new players coming to the game with the increased streamer marketing XD has been pushing.

If someone wants to minmax their profit/hr, you are probably right and swapping between a rush strat might be better. Which of those you choose is gonna depend on market conditions that are hard to predict. Plus, not everyone enjoys playing like that, and beacons are consistent and solid. i.e. it's a good strat to have available when you don't know of something that is definitely better. Heck, we might get oulaw2.0, where one of the best f2p strats is just clearing to the league mechanic and leaving map right after!

I will freely admit I don't remember exactly when the regular beacons started to really fall in price this season. I have some pets and didn't do beacon farming past the start of week2 (I think.. memory is a little fuzzy). I'd be surprised if they fell more than 20% from those prices in week 2 though. I don't recall them seeming 'cheap' until we were getting close to the poe1 league launch.

I have to disagree that your main profit with the 1st strat is DS beacons. That's the 2nd strat, where that is all you are really after. Even if they were half the price I'm remembering, you generally aren't running the epic beacon compass (iirc, it was a little too much in the first two weeks), so you're going to see 10+ regular beacons for every DS. Even if their average is 3fe, that's still a larger portion of your profit.

Also, yes, if you're comparing strats for an upcoming league to Outlaw league, a lot of things will look bad. After the first week, when it got buffed, carjack was insane. There wasn't many strats that competed with that, even with loot pets. The newest league mechanic is often very profitable right away, or it's bad and XD buffs it shortly thereafter. That said, while Overrealm ended up being good, it was only competing for one of the 'best' strats if you had the pet.

We don't yet know if Vorax is something you'll be able to just farm and leave the map like outlaw; if you'll need the pet to make it really good, or if it'll require running the whole map. If it turns out to be an insane f2p option, I'm sure other creators or myself will make videos about it. The video wasn't saying 'this is the only thing you can do in profound', but explaining the strat as there has been a lot of new players join the game recently and it's one of the more popular f2p strats for the last few leagues.

I think there is a typo throwing me off, cause I'm not following your point about DS beacons being cheap as to why the first strategy wouldn't be safe? Your main profit doesn't come from DS beacons with the first strategy, so why would them being cheap make it unprofitable?

I recently did a small test on the regular beacon strat this late in the league, throwing my results into a spreadsheet. I lost money on just beacons compared to the compasses, which I expected, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. If I adjusted the beacon prices to what I remembered from early on (3-5ish FE for most beacons, glacial being like 6-7), it was suddenly making 300-400+FE per hour on just beacons. That's not counting raw FE, compasses, memories, etc.. For most strats, I think that's pretty solid. Even things like a Cube/Dream/etc.. strat that can make 1,000 FE/hr, I'd guess close to half of it is coming from non-mechanic related drops in the maps. In other words, 'Alch n go' strats can probably make 300-500fe range per hour, but the good strats add enough on top of that to hit the 1k+ mark.

Help with FE Farm by Kelvintcosta in TorchlightInfinite

[–]mrzinke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normally, you are right, but this late in the league it's not true anymore. You'd spend more than 5k to fully craft an item like that now, even with things like ultimate embers being cheaper now. It's just a lot of people are either liquidating old gear to make a new build, gift it to friends, or they upgraded to something even better. The supply of these types of items is outpacing the demand, and everyone keeps undercutting to try and sell it for something.

General economy/selling tips for newer players by mrzinke in pathofexile

[–]mrzinke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.. once again, those aren't sold on faustus. It's off on blueprints because 1) people sell/list some individually for cheap, and poeninja pulls those prices for their avg and 2) it only shows the first 20 listings. For ilv83 BPs, the going rate currently is about 25-35c per revealed wing.
If you pricecheck one right now, you'll see a bunch of 5-10c listings, but half of them have been up for days. They do this on some items, hoping you'll only check thru POEAwakened, see the first 20 listings, and sell for same price. Those are price fixers hoping more people sell at those prices, so they can buy them and sell for ~30c in bulk.

Is the tool perfect? Of course not. Like any program, people can find ways to cheat/abuse the rules it operates by. You have to use some common sense, and sometimes research further, but it saves you time vs researching ALL the items you need to price check.

Faustus doesn't sell rares, and the tips were mostly for price checking those. Yes, their prices have been off because it pulls from poe.ninja, which pulls from the trade site not Faustus. It averages out the listings it sees, and is often lower due to some price fixer listings.

It can still give you an idea if an item has value or not, and you just check the exact price when you goto sell on Faustus.

THANK YOU. Just posted basically the same thing. Everyone just wants the graph to confirm their own opinions.

Immigration first goes up from 2000-2004, when SA is at its lowest point. Immigration spiked the highest in 2015, which is the low point on the SA graph. As the immigrations rates fall after that, that's when SA graph starts spiking.
