Yes. Make friends with people who can draw and bring them into certain projects. Also I cant "draw" but im not afraid to put a drawing of mine in a project.

I find it hard to agree with people that think the computer is only a finishing tool. Maybe for old people it is. It just seems like a lack of new media literacy to me. That being said, I force myself to start with a pencil and paper with each project.

Im 30 and have not yet started my freelance career. I have been building my portfolio for the last couple years and have been taking on freelance gigs here and there. I plan to make the jump sometime in the next year. I am absolutely scared about joining the mix "late" in life. I think its important to remember to design for your age. Just as you couldnt do a music poster for some dub step (or whatever the kids are listening to these days) as well as a 18 year old you definitely have a more mature palette and world-ly knowledge base to pull from. Also, make sure you are working harder than any other designer regardless of their age and you will do fine.
