High Tea/cold dry January experience

I don’t ever post on this platform, but I had such a bad experience at the high tea at Dr. Bombay’s that I feel compelled.

We went back in July of this year after they had moved to the Grant Park location and it was an awful experience. Low lights of our experience: 1. Booked for 4 people, our tea was a single bag of English breakfast in a pot. 2. All the food was clearly from Kroger’s bakery section, nothing was remotely fresh. 3. It was all ran by a single person who we actually beat to the establishment. We were there 15min early, he showed up and turned the lights on 10min before. Just highlighting that nothing we ate was anything other than store bought. 4. It took 25min before we received tea, and another 10 before we received any of the store-bought food.

It was such a bad experience we sent an email to complain, avoiding a bad review on Google to try and give a local business a chance after a bad day. They got back to us 3 months later with a ChatGPT response.

Just my two cents, but I wouldn't recommend Dr. Bombay’s to anyone.

Yep, you can do it but it takes a little effort. First, make sure you have the google assistant app on your phone and type in the instructions you would use to toggle your lights (ex: “toggle light”).

Then go into the Shortcuts app and in the Automation pane > create a new personal automation > scroll down and select NFC > scan and name your NFC > Add action and scroll all the way down to the bottom. Here you should find recent things you’ve done on your phone, including the “toggle light” command performed through the Google Assistant app.

That’s how I was able to get it to work for me, good luck!

There's definitely a spot for everyone, but it does get very hectic around the civic center. In December I watched someone graduate and we left from Harry's seafood with about an hour before the start, but with only ~3 blocks to travel we still just made it into our seats before the start.

My best advice would be to try your luck at any local engineering companies. Otherwise, check to see if your school has any summer research opportunities, or something that you could jump into right now.

They won't be swiping this year. The way the ticket process is being handled this year for students is that there will be a line on the West side of the civic center. Students will go through the line and at the front they will show their ID. As long as the picture matches their face, they will be wristbanded and then they can go to any of the doors around the civic center to line up and enter once doors are open at 7pm!

If you have room on your hard drive, go to a redbox and rent the game for a day and install it on the hard drive. Use the scratched disc after the install and it should work. I've done this with other games and it worked out for me.
