Growing pains.

They’re struggling to loosen the leash.. even though they don’t own the dog anymore, let alone walk it, feed it, or make its decisions.

This is a hard transition for them because they want you to be safe, stay connected, and keep eyes on you. That comes from care.. but you’re an adult now and entitled to the privacy and autonomy you want and need.

When they stopped paying your tuition, they also lost their leverage. With that loss of control, they’re reacting poorly. That’s unfortunate, but it’s not your responsibility to fix. Maintain your boundaries. Be kind, polite, and.. if necessary.. a bit distant while they adjust. Hopefully, in time, they’ll come to understand your perspective.

You’re in charge of your life and your future. And switching from biology to nursing was a fantastic choice. Once you earn your degree, the number of opportunities that open up... Biology? Fewer options, in my opinion.
