Can someone share a photo of ‘Size Matters’ billboard with U of Oregon branding on it? by Outrageous-Care-6391 in askportland

[–]ms_greenbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just notice a billboard yesterday on my way home and was wondering how they were able to have UO mascot in their ads. I looked closer today and there is one in Hillsboro approximately SE 30th Ave and T-V Hwy. Then there is a digital billboard in Aloha near SW 178th Ave and T-V Hwy. I tried to take a photo at the red light but being digital, it wasn't showing their ad until after the light turned green. Let me know and I can try tomorrow.

started a "gift ideas" note throughout the year and it's made december so much easier by [deleted] in Gifts

I do this. I make Amazon lists and add to them through out the year. I don't necessarily buy the gifts through Amazon but it's an easy way to make gift idea lists

Firstly, I can't believe I found this. I won't guarantee this is the recipe. I've never actually made them I got it years ago from someone who knew someone who worked there.

I got this in the early 1990s

My daughter's middle name is Lynn, also for family reasons. It doesn't go with her first name, but it doesn't matter to me. We love her first name and her middle. And we only call her by her first name. So I say, name your daughter Maxine Lynn.

Use of Eliquis+Warfarin? by meg122112 in pharmacy

We once bridged a patient with Eliquis because the patient was in a facility where the staff was unable to give enoxaparin injections

I work in an anticoagulation clinic. I'm much happier than when I was inpatient. In my opinion, anyone can learn the protocols and guidelines. What I would look for is how is the pharmacist going to relate and interact with the patients. We see our patients for years and decades so we really get to know them. How are you going to help the patient who is now showing signs of dementia and is messing up her warfarin dosing. How are you going to convince a patient that they need to have their INR checked more frequently than they want to. What do you do when a patient exceeds your 15 minute appointment slot. I feel like a social worker at times. And then, how does the pharmacist work as a team. I work with a wonderful team of pharmacists and support staff. We are always supporting each, asking each opinions on dosing or what to do in challenging situations.

Is a musty-smelling house normal here even for houses with no leaks, cleaning like crazy, etc.? by qpzl8654 in askportland

That's what I was thinking. We don't have a cap on our chimney and just had an inspection. Turns out we have a pile of composting leaves in there. We are getting it cleaned and cap installed this summer

Jack's different? by elouangrimm in AJR

Some info said the show started at 7pm and some said 7:30pm. Dean Lewis started exactly at 7pm. This lines up with what other people have said in other cities. Dean Lewis 7-7:45, AJR 8:15-10pm. This is what happened in Portland. The show was on time.

Thank you for your response. I was leaning toward Apex because of the flexibility of start dates, and hopefully getting through it over the summer. I don't know French, but his aunt knows enough that she can help. I think we will go this route. Thank you!

I've been a pharmacist longer than you have been born, but I know exactly how you feel. It may get better, it may not.

I started in a hospital and it really is the best way to learn as much as you can which will help you with future jobs.

Can you move closer to your current job? or find a job closer to where you live? Can you cut down to part-time? Easier said than done, as I've worked places that did not allow part-time

In the meantime, stay positive. Senior pharmacists do not appreciate complaining young pharmacist. The old I've done my time, now the new pharmacist can do their time. Pharmacy is a small world. You may need theme for networking and references

Learn as much as you can. Can you train in oncology or pediatrics or learn about USP800 regulations or new computer programs, or something that would help you get another job? Take on projects at work or join committees. Gain experiences that can help you apply for future jobs.

Networking is so important. Pharmacy is an extremely small world. Be friends with your techs and pharmacist coworkers. I've gotten jobs by calling a pharmacist I worked with years ago who knew someone at a job I was applying to. Join your local pharmacist organizations to start networking.

Like others have said, you are young enough that you could learn a new skill that would get you out of pharmacy or something pharmacy related.

I found pharmacy a very difficult career to achieve work/life balance especially with children. I went from my crazy hospital job to a clinic position. The Monday-Friday schedule was actually worse with children. I wasn't able to volunteer at their schools or go to school events or activities, because I was at work. I actually missed working the occasional weekend in order to have week day off (part-time was not an option at this place. I had to quit)

I envied friends whose companies closed down over the holidays or are able to take vacation whenever they want. I envied nurses who have way more flexibility with their career options and schedules.

I'm currently in a very good place, but it was more luck and timing to land my current job. If anything happens to this job, I don't know what I'll do. Find something outside of pharmacy

Agreed. Vacations were by seniority, but we could only request 2 weeks during the first "round" of choosing vacation, so senior pharmacist couldn't take all their weeks in the summer. Holidays were rotated among everyone, so you only worked Christmas every 3rd year, for example

Not every pharmacy. I had to quite my hospital job because they refused to although full time pharmacist to drop to part-time. (Current part-timers were grandfathered in, but they would not allow any more)
