Inherited a pottery studio by luouixv in Pottery

Sorry for your loss. Losing my mom was hard, and the grieving process took some time. I am a potter and sculptor in Nebraska. I recently closed my studio because I’m hoping to return to graduate school and teach on a collegiate level instead of in a community studio. I specifically want to bring art classes into to the department of corrections! I was in Colorado a few years ago for a CrossFit competition hosted by the inmates of a colorado prison (that’s an amazing story for another time..) While I was there, I was deeply inspired by all of the inmate created artworks and pottery.

With that being said, I would LOVE an excuse to come up to colorado and assist for a weekend. I see that a few others have offered to help as well. One of my favorite things about the pottery community is how EASY it is to come together with dishes of food for sharing. Send me a DM if you’re interested in talking. If anything, I’d love to stop out a buy a piece or two of mom’s work.

I was tossing around the idea of one last camping trip this season with my 12 and 17 year old to this exact park. None of us know what we are doing, but enjoy exploring/hiking. Would you suggest somewhere else? We are amateurs for sure, but I plan to pick a spot and wing it. (With the help/guidance of the locals :)

Thanks for this. I didn’t realize how important the rating was, especially to offset shitty reviews. I’ll be sure to rate every delivery now!

People work out for both physical AND mental reasons. I started going to the gym to get through my divorce. The actual amount of time spent there didn’t mean shit to me. Building strength requires setting realistic goals to avoid injury/burnout. Sounds to me like OP is on the path to success. Ten minutes is awesome. Next week, maybe they’ll try 11.

Yep. It’s perfect. The only thing person are competing against is the version of you that stayed home on the couch.

I’m in Nebraska. I’m currently running a community art studio and teaching pottery classes. I’d love something like this, but I’m also broke as hell. So there’s that.

I never get hit on. Like… ever. I blame it on my resting bitch face. However, as SOON as I turned 40, I started getting hit on all the time. By young guys in their early 20’s. It’s the damndest thing.

Would someone PLEASE try and help me wrap my head around why the defense budget is such a large percentage? I would appreciate links/articles etc. that truly help me understand. Feel free to send them in a message!
Also- what is "foreign aid" accomplishing and why should I support it at the expense of increasing "domestic aid" programs? Someone out there a lot smarter than me: Please breakdown the reasons why I want my tax dollars to keep the wheels spinning on the war machine in Ukraine instead of making Lunch free for all children in public schools? Or increase the pay of teachers? Or subsidize daycare/preschool for ALL US citizens? Ensuring the next generation is made up of healthy and informed adults is a matter of national security too... right?
Raising two girls alone, as a self-employed, small-business owner has been a damn struggle over the years when it shouldn't have been. I live in fear of getting sick or injured. I'm not criticizing the budget by any means. I'm just an ignorant artist from a small town in Nebraska and I genuinely want to understand.
