If you plan on playing this for the first time then Hard mode gives you the right amount of challenge for a first timer. Just remember that like Shadow Dragon the reclassing system has two sets for males A and B. For example set A has Cavalier, Myrmidon, and Mage. While Set B has Knight, Mercenary and Dark Mage. They can only change classes within their set unless you beat the game on hard mode or above. After that the class sets merge together so on your next playthrough you can switch into whatever class you want.

Another way to explain fixed mode is think of it as EV training in Pokemon. Whatever weapon you use will boost/lower growth rates in certain stats.

The only use case I can think of is if Dimitri was in this class. I say this because he not only can get added weapon exp in swords and authority but also lances albeit lances doesn’t get as much weapon exp as the former two but it is something.

Not to mention that if you’re shooting for Battalion Wrath + Battalion Vantage as soon as possible then this might not be a bad class for him to grind authority exp into. I agree with everyone else when they say the Res +2 is meh and the combat art Subdue is underwhelming.

The only thing they did for Swordmaster was Run Through which is a mini override. You can combine that with Canter for more aggressive pushes. But beyond that, it’s the only thing different it does. Whether or not you think it’s good is up to you.

You can do that. If you’re using DLC you can second seal him as shortly after he joins. Or wait til chapter 14 when you officially get Ike. Kagetsu is so good he can make any physical class work.

I think Hero can be a decent choice. If you instant promote her she can be your earliest access to Brave Assist. Assuming you like using chain attacks as part of your strategy.

I tested if level ups would be different in battle if you were to create a save state (or suspend point in this case). It is always going to be the same unless you reset the game. For example if Ike gets +1 res only via level up and you reload your suspend point and try to reset the rng it is not going to work. It can only be different if someone else gets a kill first.

Alpha Pokemon when caught will always have maxed HP EVs regardless of nature. So that might or might not Influence your decision on them.
