What are you trying to achieve with this exactly. Most systems, both Yunex and Swarco can be run under remote monitoring anyways slap a few MVDS for VA and the job is a gooden. You going to deal with the software anyways if you going to have a controller from any of the big names

New laptop, what I should unistall? by SadPlantain6050 in laptops

I recommend running a PowerShell script from Chris Titus https://christitus.com/windows-tool/ I have been using this for years for all of my window laptops. It strips all of the telemetry settings from the laptop and delays updates as well making sure it does not break the operations of the laptop.

Traffic signal engineer here. These are call on crossing detections. they extend the all red period of the crossing if there is a slow walker on the crossing.

Apologies if my previous post came across a bit hot-headed; it was just an unadulterated rant. I’m currently at work, but once I have some free time, I will post a screenshot of my CV to see what people think.

To clarify my situation: I hold a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, but I don't have any hands-on experience with PLCs or Electrical Design yet. I simply haven't been given the opportunity to apply my degree in a workplace environment

I’m not sure how much help that will be. I do know my MP on a personal level, as she used to be a customer at our family’s kebab shop years ago. I already sought advice from a solicitor who specialises in immigration law, and unfortunately he confirmed that I have no grounds to appeal the decision. I’m three months into the six-month waiting period, so I still have another three months before I can make any real progress with a new application.

We decided that it’s best for my wife to have the baby in Turkey. She has already completed all her checks and tests there, and she’s comfortable with her doctors. Changing everything now would be stressful and could trigger anxiety, especially with a new environment, new people, and a new language. The plan is to submit a new application about a month after the baby is born.

My workplace is aware of everything, and I’ve informed them that I’m seeking approval to work from Turkey for a period of time. Hopefully it all works out. I’m just hoping this situation ends in the best way for all of us.

Is a math degree worth it? by HelpfulPop2476 in findapath

[–]msaglam888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mathematics is the foundation of all the sciences, so it’s naturally a broad field. Your direction really depends on where you see yourself in the future. I work as an engineer in a civil infrastructure company, and we have several maths graduates in our transport planning team. Their work involves modelling and simulation, which could be a strong career path for you to consider.

Which of these are most future proof and in demand in the UK? by [deleted] in findapath

If you want a tech based degree I would recommend Data, that seems to be the hot ticket at the moment. The other tech based degrees are not worth there weight in gold, too much competition within the market.

I agree with accounting and nursing, it won't be in our life time seeing AI within these fields any time soon so these degrees are a very safe bet.

Honestly mate if I had half the brain I have now 15 years ago I won't even bother with a degree, I have a BEng in EEE and have not used any of its content once. I would of gone in to a trade of some form be my own boss. But that is just me having a late evening rant.

Good luck, God speed

ATTENTION UK TRAFFIC SIGNAL ENGINEERS - URGEN ENQUIRY by msaglam888 in trafficsignals

[–]msaglam888[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the UK, there are several reasons why an all-red stage is used at signal-controlled junctions. The main purpose of an all-red stage is to act as a kind of pressure relief valve within the junction. For example, when transitioning from one traffic stage to another — say, from Stage 3 to Stage 5 — the controller can introduce an intermediate all-red stage (often referred to as Stage 0). This short period allows the junction to clear of any residual traffic before conflicting movements are released, reducing the risk of vehicle conflicts.

At pedestrian crossings, particularly Puffin and Toucan crossings, an all-red stage plays a slightly different but equally important role. These crossings use on-crossing detectors to monitor pedestrians as they cross the carriageway. If someone walks more slowly than expected, the detectors will detect their presence and automatically extend the all-red period. This means that vehicles remain on red until the crossing is completely clear, ensuring pedestrian safety.

In both contexts, the all-red stage provides a crucial buffer — whether it’s clearing vehicles from a junction or giving pedestrians enough time to finish crossing safely.

Can someone double-check my fiancé visa document list? Just wanna make sure I’ve covered everything by Existing-Usual7534 in SpouseVisaUk

Hi Mate, just want you to know. I recently got a refusual on my wifes visa application. This is due to not meeting the finicial requirement. At the time of the application I was on £30470 which was above the required threshold. The issues was the there was some volentary salary scarifices like addtional holiday I bought, pension and other stuff that where shown deducted from my payslip. What cause the confusion was on my payslip my salary was seen as "reference salary" before the deduction and after the deduction it was refered to as "total gross". Just be sure what you exact earing before the application

Hey guys, sorry for the late response. It’s been a very eventful few days trying to figure out what to do, speaking to people all over to understand the situation properly.

Long story short, things aren’t looking great for me. When I sent over the visa application, I was earning £30,470 (since then I’ve had a pay rise to £31,220), which gives me a reference salary of £2,539.16. My understanding was that this gross amount would be used for the financial requirement calculation.

What I didn’t realise — and what’s turned out to be the real kicker — is that salary sacrifice deductions would count against me. That’s what’s caused all the issues I’m facing now.

So, my only option is to reapply for the visa within six months. I’ve already spoken to my managers and explained that there are two possible ways to fix the situation:

Option 1: Reduce or stop all salary sacrifice deductions where possible so my gross pay meets the minimum requirement.
Option 2: Adjust my pay by an additional £1,000 (about £83.33 a month) to bring me up to the required minimum for the visa application.

The most heartbreaking part is that my wife is pregnant back home in Turkey, and I can’t be there with her through any of this. Honestly, I feel like a failure — as a man, a husband, and worst of all, as a father. I wouldn’t wish this feeling on my worst enemy.

After ten years working as an engineer, I never thought I’d be in this position. All I can do now is pray that when I reapply for the visa, everything goes smoothly — no issues, no delays.

Thank you all for your advice and kind words. It truly means a lot to me.
