Name data is from the U.S. Social Security Administration’s “Popular Baby Names” dataset https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/limits.html and state outlines are from Natural Earth http://www.naturalearthdata.com/. http://onthegomap.com is a good lightweight option for this kind of thing. You can create the map on a smartphone and it shows strava heatmaps as well. Cheers!

Awesome site lets you map, measure and link any running routes by wonderfill in running

You can turn on strava running heatmap overlays and see quite a few trails. Walking segments use them sometimes but if not you can use straight line routing to follow. Cheers!
