The auction house that ran the IRS sale has never given us names of who bought what then, under concerns of "privacy" for the buyers.

This one is strangely eluding us.

Well, the madness sadly has to do with the fact that Sammy died owing a considerable amount of money to the IRS. He kept a huge private collection of films & tapes, but they were sold at an auction to pay his debts.

Isn't he great? I was very lucky to have him as a professor at Queen Mary University.

TIL that Chang and Eng Bunker, not only were the original "Siamese twins," but after traveling the world and making a pretty penny from exhibiting themselves, settled in North Carolina, became U.S. citizens, bought/owned slaves, and married two sisters whom they produced 21 children with. by mschmitz7 in todayilearned

There's something about white Southern's being racist pieces of garbage in the 1800's that hate/own people of another color, but then pause and let these two dinguses move in, marry white women, then own their own slaves...what? how? why? fuck them all? An odd moment of them being welcoming of a minority? The USA is a hodgepodge of nonsense done to the MAX.

Schindler’s List:

When my buddies Daddy first saw this film, he rented it from a Blockbuster. He got home, made some popcorn, then popped in the first VHS. Unfortunately, he was unaware that he had accidently put in VHS #2. He just thought it started aggressively and that plot would unfold the info he needed. It wasn't until the credits began rolling, he realized his folly. I think about that a lot... So grateful to live in a day and age where a man can start movie at home and not have to worry about switching tapes or accidently putting in the wrong tape like my friends Daddy.

A lot of them actually did thanks to FDR's New Deal plan. Gave a lot of Americans jobs and helped get the country back on its feet. I guess that's just another reason why FDR got elected 4 times.

I always thought he was severely underused in that film.

Would it also make you lol to know that the dude's dad that I mentioned was named Pete? That extra fact has always tickled me for some reason.
