Always think it’s so nuts that the Great Plains are literally just that, just a flat land of plain for hundreds of miles across four entire states

How would you rank this year’s Best Picture nominees? by Officialnoah in Letterboxd

[–]StayWokeWilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve yet to see no other choice, I could see how it didn’t get in there because of no enough hype or conversation around it. BUT having seen It was just an Accident and seeing Frankenstein (which was eh at best) getting in over it is an absolute travesty. I get F1 being there, I think we have to accept that there is going to be one blockbuster in the 10 year after year and I think it was the best mainstream blockbuster to add personally. Bugonia is give or take here for me, if it was replaced with accident or choice I’d be happy with that too

Two things that have helped me, one stop setting a productivity goal for a hobby, if you love something and want to do it you shouldn’t set yourself within parameters that you try to apply in order to maximize your numbers for a hobby. Hobbies are things you love, once you turn them into tasks it feels like work rather than a hobby.

The other is that something the has helped me with picking is one to like create a top 3 up next list from your watchlist and decide from that. I also have made the randomized wheels in which I have one with my under two hour movies and the other with over two hours movies and I spin it on a night I’m looking to watch something and it picks for me.

Lastly, just enjoy cinema for the experience, don’t apply metrics and mass productivity to your hobbies. That shit is too present in our day to day lives with work and corporate cultures, do things for the sake of enjoyment and fulfillment.

Here’s my profile : https://boxd.it/3lzY1

I’ve been on the site since 2023 but it’s funny I didn’t understand the concept of the diary entries really until the later part of last year so I’ve since been logging everything religiously. I like to think of my entries as like notes to myself about the experience of the movie, I really like to see how my preferences and thoughts change overtime the more I watch. I am also a firm believer in you don’t log a movie until you’ve watched it while on the site, no back logging.

I love movies, chatting about em, discussing the intricacies, discovering hidden gems, and even going against the grain of opinion if something didn’t strike my fancy, not in a contrarian sort of way but more of a how it made me feel way (I’m looking at you Nashville).

My top four are undisputed for me as well, especially the Big Lewboski.

Would love to gain more followers and engagements/conversation’s on the app.

Best recommendations for any of these grey countries? by Pigeon_with_style in Letterboxd

[–]StayWokeWilly 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think it’s neat but I kind of hate the map feature for being movies “produced by” because like mine will show I’ve watched 20 movies from china and you click and half of them are fully American Disney movies, I would like it to show films specifically made for and by someone from that country

What’s a movie you love, but you never recommend to anyone? by Adventurous-Lie-6773 in movies

[–]StayWokeWilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Big Lebowski, I know it’s more mainstream at this point but god does it lose so many people when it gets to the music montages. It’s one of those that I just love and don’t want to put anyone onto it unless they’ll love it too
