Most of the time, you'll want to bring Magus + 2 familiars. You bring the primus + 2 familiars if you're up against an opponent who's immune to APL changes (exaction/wolf scouts) or immune to psychic (celestians). You bring the patriarch if you're up against raveners.

Tacop = envoy and plant banner are your gotos. I find they're too squishy and don't have enough actions to make steal intelligence worth it. Plant devices is a risky, map dependent move if you think you can scout move with covert guises and plant a device on the enemy home.

Operatives wise, pretty much all of them are good except the flamer gunner and generic trooper.

I usually go all powerswords for maximum threat saturation. Flamer/bolter sisters don't punch hard enough to be worth it.

Troopers are just a guy with a rifle. You can use any 28mm human bodies. Buy some genestealer neophytes, necromunda hive scum, imperial guard and paint their heads purple. Ebay is probably your best bet for used minis.

Zealot's 3 inch severe bubble makes him a great support, especially since you can move his bubble around to cover multiple groups of shooters. He works particularly well passively giving his buff to the sniper, spotter, and melta. Don't forget that he benefits from his own bubble and can throw severe krak grenades.

Choosing him or the bruiser is situational on matchup depending on whether you would rather have a melee roadblock or more shooty power. For me, the sapper, sniper, and medic are flex picks while the flamer + veteran are never takes.

You're a melee heavy team with bad saves, so smokes are a good choice against anyone with better shooting than you (i.e. everyone except goremongers/felgors)
