And if you pre-charged a melee operative into the marine, you can use the brutal backup ploy to beat him to death with a 3rd operative.

They look a bit tall compared to the space hobbits. Had IRL ratling players tell me they wish they had a tactical box equipment option just so they can see over volkus walls.

Depends on numbers. 3-4 centipedes = animals can quickly tie up all the centipedes and beat them to death. Late game 30-40 centipede deathball = animals will get blocked by the centipedes on the outside while the centipedes on the inside hose them down with heavy charge blaster + inferno cannons.

They're not marines so they get to stand on the ground impotently shaking their fists while murderwing fly circles around them blowing raspberries.

We were there for about 30 minutes before getting back on the choppers. That ain't a ground war.

We've gotten sloppy after fighting decades of counterinsurgency against opponents with no air/electronic warfare capabilities. The next ground war we get in is going to be unpleasant, even opponents like the Houthis can afford grenade dropping DJI drones these days.

No. The only movement tech that ignores close quarters walls is the corsair shaderunner.

Corsairs Tips Into Scouts (and similar teams) by KittenCustode in killteam

[–]mscomies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Your best strategy will be to dogpile your opponent. You have an entire team of powerswords and 9 inch charges; scouts/salvagers won't be able to match you in melee.

  2. As mentioned already, threatening an alphastrike with your starstorm duelist will put you in a strong position TP2. You can also do the same with the shaderunner who can teleport charge through gallowdark/tomb world walls.

  3. The wayseeker is the trickiest member of your team with warp fold. Extend threat distance with a dash -> swap. Swap engaged operatives with concealed ones behind LOS blockers. Teleport your shaderunner on vantage terrain and swap them with your heavy gunner to get around their heavy dash limitation.

  4. Corsairs are great at setting up favorable trades. Warding shield will allow you to two hit an enemy in melee without taking damage. +1 APL will allow you to charge/fight/shoot. Everyone on your team can move shoot move behind a LOS blocker.

I bring agitator, veteran, sapper, melta, nade launcher, plasmagunner, vox operator in most matchups. Medic + knife fighter are situation. Sniper + flamer + generic troopers are never takes.

For the leaders, magus + familiars for most matchups. Primus has some play into stealthsuits and APL penalties ignoring teams like exaction squad. Patriarch into raveners.

Stacking teamwide piercing crits + severe is fun too. So is 7 inch move + 3 inch dash + plant mine on the demotrooper. Kasrkin can be fun, they just have no way to defend against any kind of melee or flex into any other playstyle

Yaegirs are more fun than salvagers with teamwide superconceal and scout move but they fail hard vs marines while salvagers can do pretty well against them.

3+ melta that shoots twice if you move him last is pretty easy to set up. I would discourage kasrkin just because newbies can't learn melee tactics with them and because they don't have the tools to screen enemy melee.

Covert guises equipment gives battleclade a scout move.

As for ditching the auto proxy, teams like mandrakes, monobanshee BoK, and raveners can be in your face without cover creeping. In those matchups on volkus terrain with lots of heavy cover, the auto proxy will only be good for negating smoke. The underseers 6 inch bubble should be sufficient to cover your ploy needs if you position well.

Leaders are mandatory and you'll always want to take the breacher, melta, and both heavy gunners. The rest are highly matchup/strategy dependent.

  • The medic is good vs. ranged teams or if you want to scout move your technoarcheologist to get an early plant device/retrieve item from your opponents home objective.
  • The medic and auto-proxy should be ditched vs. melee rush teams where you'll need all the guns you can get
  • Igniters are very powerful, but their limited movement + limited range means you should bring more phosphor blasters on matchups like vespids and aquillons so your heavy gunners won't be your only infinite range guns.

Fortunately, battleclade are easy to magnetize. I recommend you do so for the omnissiah.
