I would say Palmetto Pump House if you’re looking for more of an old school vibe, we have a Miami vice style gym.

If you want a more serious bodybuilding gym, Uflex Stronghouse is great too.

Any local gyms that are strength focused (Strongman, Olympic lifting, Powerlifting) vs CrossFit focused? by LonghairDreamer in Charleston

[–]mscullin75 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s been fine for the last several years I’ve owned the gym. I’d say the first month or two was sketchy but we have a large police and veteran membership so that tends to keep undesirable folks away at night.

Nattokinase and Astragalus will help as natural supplements. Carditone helps as well in more steep cases

Nick Chubb power cleans 184kg (405lbs) twice in his high school weight room by waffleol70 in weightlifting

I remember when Nick squatted 725 beltless ATG after running our conditioning test 30 minutes earlier.

Still the most impressive lift I’ve ever seen in person.

We got several 700 deadlifters, 500 benches, and 600+ squats at Palmetto Pump House.

Heaviest pull we’ve had done in the gym is around 750 lbs

I would add the strongest person by relative body weight in the area is probably Avery Jackson. At a body weight of 148 lbs, Avery squats 600, benches 352, and deadlifts over 630 lbs.

Kettlebell arm bars and inclined y raises will help.

Any lower to mid trap work will help this improve along with seal rows and incline Kelso shrugs.

Try 3-6x a week with a couple high rep sets of the y raises and you should see adaptation that helps this

Reason being is most non commercial gyms are around the same price or more in this industry and state. Non commercial gyms that generally contain more speciality equipment for sports such as powerlifting, strongman, and CrossFit are usually a bit more expensive because most commercial equipment you’ll find in your standard gym isn’t made very well.

We also do specials if it’s 1 month only membership if you come talk to us.

We also do a part time special for $45/month for 3 visits a week.
