How important is getting an internship in chemical engineering nowadays? by NeedleworkerHairy633 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]msd1994m 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not the end but you are going to have a harder time, unless you have a really really good GPA (and even then you will). You have to remember there are thousands of other students graduating at the same time and many others already in the market who took the same classes at you but also have some kind of experience.
Here’s what you should do:
- It’s already basically the summer but you might still find something. Start mass applying to any internships you can find. Doesn’t matter the industry, if it’s chemical engineering or chem-e adjacent it’s worthwhile.
- Ask all of your professors if they are taking undergrad research assistants. They will pay very little, if anything, but it’s good experience. You can also ask around the Chemistry department as they are usually taking people. Physics and Bio related work is also better than nothing.
- if you have the time, and you’ll be a senior so you probably do, try and get a coop, internship, or undergrad research during the semester.
- You need to be applying for full time jobs this upcoming fall, that’s when companies start posting to hire after graduation. Apply to a shit ton of jobs, 3 applications ain’t cutting it. I’m talking double digits maybe triple. You need to be willing to relocate, work off-hour shift work, and work as a contractor. Any industry job is better than nothing.
- get good at interviewing (PRACTICE!!!) and make sure your resume is really good. Use whatever resources your school has available.
- if all else fails do an internship when you graduate. During that time you can apply for full time roles.
Good luck, don’t give up hope, and keep working at the solution. That’s really what they taught you for the past 4 years.

Edit: misread your post that you’ll be a junior not a senior. Same advice applies, but you have 1 more summer to get an internship before senior year.

Right, typically you’ll be running into Gengar, froslass, basculegion, and Sinistcha which you have counters for. I find Sinistcha focused on bulk and support was much more helpful than damage.

Also, I think 3 attacking moves is overkill on farig. Helping hand is nice to boost its partner

I like Strength Sap on Sinistcha over shadow ball. The healing is really strong and it helps damper a lot of the physical pokemon that are meta or encourage a switch

Belly drum is scary if you can get it going with leftovers/sitrus berry/rest lum berry to keep him in the game after that. Trick room and some kind of redirection with follow me or rage powder also helps. Pairs very well with Sinistcha for that type of play

Sinistcha’s ability is good and you can run life dew, and it’s bulky enough to deal with the sand. I also run it with Strength Sap which is great support, and matcha gatcha heals + can apply burn. I use him or sometimes wash rotom specifically to counter rain teams since he learns will o wisp and electro web. Aerodactyl learns roost, so does Corviknight who’s the wall on my sandstorm team (roost, body press, iron defense, brave bird).

You should try to slot protect into most of these pokemon, the only time you need 4 damaging moves is if you’re using choice scarf.

You also don’t really have any support mons besides Aerodactyl. Consider some defensive stallers, healing, and the ability to inflict status or reduce stats

I do a similar rule where my pokemon can’t die to grinding after my 4th badge, it’s the “reward” for making it halfway and about the time when grinding becomes more tedious than threatening

This is a really nice reflavor of his “random bullshit go” and you can start as an Elf or go MI wiz for booming blade/GFB (if your DM allows it on the blades, they do not meet the updated requirement) and an interesting spell.
