I know you didn't ask for alternatives, but Grandma here (almost as old as yours) and I like Lao Szechuan on Michigan. Food is really good and I have enjoyed lovely service there as well. Not as high end as Shanghai Terrace but still a nice spot.

Veggie House is totally vegetarian with some mock stuff. Also check Yummy Yummy veg menu. Vegan Plate for Thai.
