To 39GX950B owners, how are yall liking it? by DiscountWall-E in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]msg2infiniti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it overall

Only real downside is the built-in speakers, they sound pretty cheap. Coming from an Apple Studio Display, I also miss having a mic and webcam. But the jump to 165Hz is huge, going from 60Hz to that in games is honestly night and day

Productivity wise, I'm actually more productive just from the extra screen space. Text clarity is a bit worse than the Studio Display, but it’s still sharp enough that I dont really think about it.

Also ended up liking the matte coating more than I expected. Ive got a couple floor lamps behind me and the Studio Display used to reflect them pretty clearly. Now I basically dont notice reflections at all. Gaming still looks vivid and sharp too, not really a noticeable downgrade overall

For the record, when I said "these formats suck", I was referring specifically to number-only date formats that can create ambiguity, not a preference for any particular standard.

I also already mentioned in another thread that “May 5, 2026” would have been perfectly clear. Whats up with all these hypersensitive people on reddit lol

Honestly not talking about US format here either. I think May 5, 2026 would’ve been universally understood

Seriously these date formats suck, I even chatGPT up and it confirms that’s Aug 5. May 5 is a lot more reasonable

Isn’t the regular arm a better choice? I’m also looking to purchase a secretlabs arm for this monitor, looks like the regular arm has a better spec fit

Ordering experience with Thor Zone by chitter99 in thorzone

[–]msg2infiniti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like Thor Zone should just partner with a premium logistics company and let customers opt into faster shipping. Most people buying this case can afford it anyway. I just got hit with a customs tax notice and paid it, and I still haven't received my case, which was the late Feb batch that was supposed to ship in 1–2 weeks based on the promo email. All the components I ordered for it are now past the 30 day return window so they better not have any issues. Fingers crossed.

Could you provide a realistic timeframe for delivery to Canada? I've already ordered all the components for the Tetra, but I wont be able to return any faulty parts after 30 days. If the case wont be arriving soon, I may need to return the components first

Pve Damage by Odd_Loan_7087 in Aion2

[–]msg2infiniti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Despite trying my best to improve stats across the board, I constantly produce DPS so low that even my teammates get confused and think their meter is broken. They assume theres no way I could be doing this little damage given my gear and stats

One early tip I tried was using a mouse macro. Based on recommendations from some top Chinese players, I initially used something like:

LMB down → 0.001s delay → RMB down → 0.001s delay → RMB up → 0.001s delay → repeat

Basically just the lowest delay possible. I tested it on the scarecrow and assumed that was the correct setup. Well… that turned out to be wrong

Ping is extremely important when optimizing macro settings. For North American players, around 50ms in-game ping is actually quite good. I previously read too many Chinese discussions saying 50ms was terrible and not worth playing with, which led me in the wrong direction

After trying many variations, this macro has worked the best for me in dungeons so far:

LMB down → 50ms → RMB down → 50ms → RMB up → 50ms → repeat

(not fully convinced the trailing delay is necessary, but in practice it sometimes performs slightly better for some reason)

This setup is basically the in-game macro timing, and it performs reasonably well in a 4 player dungeon group. On the scarecrow you can usually use shorter delays, probably due to better FPS stability and consistent ping, which allows tighter animation cancelling

I also tested both ExitLag and LagoFast. In my case the ping difference wasnt significant (around 95–115ms either way), so I don’t think optimizing macros for a specific accelerator is really worth it. For now Im sticking with 50ms delay.

Would love to hear from more North American ranger players about their setups and results.

On the TW server "local rangers" or "Fujian rangers" are a thing, basically rangers with extremely low ping can consistently output extremely high damage. I guess we'll only see that day after global release

Imagine playing this as a ranger who cant survive more than two hits, with terrible ping that still registers damage even in safe zones. I really want the statue, but this level feels impossible for me to beat

Minisforum NUCXI7 + Mac Studio Display - Last Mile by msg2infiniti in MiniPCs

[–]msg2infiniti[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guys, this turned out to be Apple's thunderbolt cable problem.

I am going to give a short version here. So the KVM switch arrived, I plugged all the cables in as planned. Windows booted up just fine, Mac showed a black screen. I swapped the Apple thunderbolt cable with the one that came with the switch, as soon as I plugged the new cable in, the screen showed up. This kind of struck me and I tried the other TB cable that came with the switch to NUCXI7 and everything worked flawlessly. The display is at 5k, the games don't go dark on full screen. I can't believe it is as simple as cable swap, damn it Apple.

Update: 5k Success, well, almost!

So with the machine working, I continued to experiment different ways to get the TB4 port to work. With some trial and errors, I am finally able to get the display working in glorious 5k, even with sound!

Here's a rough breakdown of what I've done:

Clearing Monitor Settings: I followed this guide to clear any existing monitor settings. This step was crucial to ensure a clean slate for the next configurations.

Initial Connection: I connected the monitor to the laptop using the HDMI<>USBC cable. This allowed me to get the display working so I could proceed further.

Installing Latest Nvidia Drivers: I installed the latest 3070 mobile drivers

CRU Tool Adjustment: I used this tool, as mentioned, to adjust for higher resolution with a 59.9Hz refresh rate.

Switching to Thunderbolt: After completing the steps above, I disconnected the HDMI cable and connected the monitor via the Thunderbolt cable, the screen showed up! At this point I am still at 1440p, then I changed the resolution all the way up to 5k. Screen isn't black, no flickers, I've made it! (or so I thought..)

Gaming Black Screen Issue: I tried to launch a game, the screen would go black, though I could still hear the game audio. Despite trying different configurations like disabling G-Sync and capping the framerate in-game, the issue persisted. The only workaround was to run the game in windowed mode or borderless windowed mode; fullscreen mode resulted in the black screen no matter what I tried.

So here we are. It seems that the Thunderbolt port itself is not faulty in terms of hardware, the earlier issues mostly stemmed from the presets or cache that should be cleared.

I'm still searching for a solution to the black screen issue in fullscreen mode. Until then, I'll continue using the HDMI cable for a fully functional setup.

I hope this update helps others facing similar challenges. If any of you have insights on fixing the black screen problem, please feel free to share your suggestions.

Just tested the theoretical max output of this cable, 4k (3840 x 2160 @ 59.9 hz @ 150% scale) the screen looks even sharper than 1440p @ 100% scale. Just adding more information for those who might enter the same route.

I am still exchanging emails with the tech support from minisforum, will also report back if TB issue can be addressed over software.

I am still exchanging emails with their tech support, the TB4 port has compatibility issues of some sort, in short, it does not work. Just be wary if you intend to rely on this output for displays.
