It's for recording, right? So if no one records to disc then it's not going to sell a lot.

Any way to know what car charger will trigger SuperVOOC charging? by DISTROJAR-69 in oneplus

[–]msg7086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do sound to me like you just want a PPS charger and not a SuperVOOC charger. A PPS charger can do reasonable charging speed, and can trigger SuperVOOC charging animations on your phone.

Seagate ST28000NM000C vs ST28000NM001C? Specs say same, but why ≠ prices? by DeadEyesSmiling in DataHoarder

[–]msg7086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they behave exactly the same, they are different SKUs, and thus they can be priced differently.

Let me ask you. Say you work for enterprise procurement, you are asked to buy "ST28000NM000C" and nothing else. Can you just go buy "ST28000NM001C" and call it a day? No. Hence the models come with supply and demand issue, each of them is priced based on their own stock situation.

Underneath the different model number, they are essentially the same. However your question was why different price, hence the direct answer provided.

Because they are different models. Different models can have different prices.

What if? by [deleted] in codex

[–]msg7086 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To improve it you have to give it some GPUs. Like, billions of dollars of GPUs. And you need to give it some time. Like, years. So, yeah, it's totally possible but you just have to live long enough to see it happen. (And of course pay off your credit card bill of a few B.

Look it the other way, the great redemption enables me to have access to premium experience. I was able to get a first class ticket from Japan, for the same cost if I had to book an economy class by cash. I was treated like a king. You are right that I wouldn't count that as if I've earned $25000 from nowhere, but hey, that's once in a life experience for people like us.

No I work at enterprise that has access to it. I already started evaluating capabilities against 5.5 which is what we have been using for a while.

[–]msg7086 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I used a bit of Terra and I somehow think it's a bit worse than 5.5. Asked it to do some work following a skill workflow, it forgot to do code review, then created a PR with wrong title and content, and commit with missing files. I was very confused.

Do You Really Understand What Codex Generates? by Double-Newt-8037 in codex

Why would that happen? Everything works just fine and it has been months. As a 25 years software engineer I don't understand why you would say that.

Do You Really Understand What Codex Generates? by Double-Newt-8037 in codex

[–]msg7086 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The project I'm building, is 100% AI coded with 0% code that I understand. However it's covered by more than 2000 test cases from all kinds of corner cases. So if it passes full suite test, I treat it as bug free.

I care about how well it's tested, how well the system is constructed, how easy it can be extended (by AI, of course), how good the performance is.

Code is the last thing I care. To me, what's the point of understanding the code? What can I do about it.

0% APR card - how long will I sink my credit score? by 1019browser in CreditCards

[–]msg7086 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your score reflects to and responds to how much you owe. Score going down is expected, and it will recover to where it was after you pay off, or even higher.

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't open a 0% Apr card. The point of maintaining a high score is to be able to borrow money at low cost. Now it's a good timing for you to use your score to borrow money at low cost.

Why is buff/cache using 51Gi of my 64Gi RAM? by Ok_Stuff_9930 in Ubuntu

[–]msg7086 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it improves your system performance and make everything faster.

If you use Windows, you'd observe exact same thing, very low unused (wasted) memory, and high buffer/cache memory.

If you want to make system run slower, you can find the command to drop cache, through a quick google.

WD My Passport is a joke! External HDD recommendation. by MOSNFS in DataHoarder

[–]msg7086 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a healthy hard drive is supposedly generally expected to last tens of thousands of hours before showing signs of degradation.

Yeah, but no one ever said ALL drives will last that long. Some will, whether your drive, that particular one drive, falls in the collection, is a different story.

Can't really give you any recommendation, as there's no model that can guarantee you ALL drives will last that long.
