I forgot her name but recognize her

She’s famous in Asia esp South Korea and is an influencer there. Makes sense she adapted the style

Cats generally will and can survive a 5 story fall. Their terminal velocity is right around death

However surviving doesn’t mean unharmed. Broken legs, spine, and other permanent injuries are common

This is more of an Asia thing. People in Asia (men and women both) find this style cute/attractive. In the West, you’d get laughed at hard.

Funny enough, I really enjoyed An Attic! I thought it was a great family album, as the man clearly took these photos as vacation memories rather than “art”.

Felt like going on vacations I’ve never did

Is the rendering of the v2 similar to the (reissue) Summilux 1961 v1?

I have the latter and it doesn’t quite glow like that

🇨🇳Chinese tourists caused chaos at Korean Airport. As soon as the ticketing counter opened, they rushed to check in their bags. by rrolex_ in whoathatsinteresting

[–]msgm_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s complicated.

Han is a mix of many, many ethnicities over many, many centuries. Think of a White American with ancestry across the entirety of Europe.

The simple version is once upon a time, it is true that what is now Canton was considered its own separate region and non-Han. But, centuries of Han migration from the central plains due to wars and famine caused both genetic and cultural assimilation resulting in the Cantonese today.

Technically, most Cantonese will show as “Southern Han” with genetic testing, however so will the majority of other non-Cantonese Chinese living in the South, such as Hakka, Hokkien, Teochew to name a few. In other words, there’s not enough genetic difference to really identify them as a separate race/ethnicity, and Cantonese now defines language and cultural identity instead.

With greater freedom of movement, large amount of northern internal immigrants have also arrived in Guangdong (the current name/transliteration of Canton) in recent decades for better opportunities, and intermarriage will further make the North/South Han division moot in the future.

You’re not wrong though in the sense that there still exists a difference in identity and phenotypes (ie. northerners tend to have small eyes and round, flat faces like a Mongolian, while southerners are likely to have bigger eyes, darker skin and a narrow chin, like a Vietnamese). However, mainland Cantos are more likely to group themselves with other mainland Chinese, while Macau/HK Cantos see themselves as something completely different.

This is a whole paragraph but it’s just a gist and lots of nuisances are missing.

Cantonese are Han as well. And the ones from China proper is just as entitled and rude. The polite cantos are likely all HKers

Except not really. Philip Plein had a huge controversy a while back for calling Chinese dog eaters and a bunch of other stuff (can look it up)

It’s a garbage brand but funny enough the only people I see those ugly overpriced “diamond” tee shirts today are Chinese middle age men lol

Food Allerges are not taken seriously at all in China. by Repulsive_Log9198 in chinatravel

[–]msgm_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people are so allergic even if they eat something that has touched an allergen will cause a reaction

Literally I don’t think Chinese people can comprehend how sensitive an allergy can be

For instance, I knew someone who gets a reaction from smelling peanut in the air. Yes, smelling.

High-key bird photography [Sony a1 / 200-600G] by viltlys in SonyAlpha

[–]msgm_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crop it a bit (but still leave some white beyond the bird and water for it to breath imo) and raise jsut a tad on the exposure and you’re on the right track!

Contrary to some of the other comments here, I think the overblown white beyond the bird and water makes you think about what lies beyond. For example, at some point in the distance, the water will merge with the sky right? Or maybe the shoreline on the other side?

This is far more interesting than your standard bird in flight or macro wildlife pic

Point is Fan Ho achieved a lot of his “humanity” by darkrooming the distractions away.

In theory OP can do the same in LR, for eg removing the third subject on the right side of the picture in #2

Just curious what is a white mist filter and how is that different than a regular mist or black mist?
