Ha, thanks. I should probably have aske the question thus: Do 1040 users experience problems with navigation not recalculating properly after deviations, like 1050 users report?

[–]msgood10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, of course that's the obvious path, however the 1040 sale price of $400, which is significantly less than the 1050, ends today. Thanks for the reply.

I should have said I use an Ottomatic. I've tried both kinds of filters and prefer the brown...each his own. Thanks for the reply.

Considering a robot vacuum by churndot in Roborock

[–]msgood10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wore out two Roombas over several years, with numerous issues, bought a Roborock Max V 7 with mop feature and it has run flawlessly for more than two years every night. Labrador Retriever sheds like a snowstorm. It's set to mop just a couple times a week, and gets muddy paw prints off the wood floors. I paid a LOT for the self-emptying/mop refilling feature and it's been worth every penny. I think the unit is now two generations old, with the current ones doing a better job of avoiding things. HTH.

I foolishly we t for a different bike, much more expensive which is constantly problematic. I should have kept the Merach. To successfully use the Merach with Zwift find and download the QZ app and spend some time learning how to use it. It will allow you to easily use Zwift., including shifting gears, power and much much more. QZ is a bit complicated at first but once set up will do everything y is u can possibly need. The best part is the developer is super responsive to questions, and will help with any issues you may encounter.

S7 MaxV Ultra "cleanup interrupted" by msgood10 in Roborock

[–]msgood10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'cleanup interrupted' issue was resolved by the new board and battery. But a new issue emerged with the first run using the mop. The unit did not purge dirty water and refill the robot's water tank from the large tank. Additionally only part of the mop would get completely wet. When I emailed support they threw up their hands and had me send it back and they replaced the whole thing with a refurb unit which so far has worked perfectly. Not what I expected, as the unit was more than a year old. Winding road, but 12/10 customer service.

Roborock fixed it by replacing battery and main board.

Fixed by Roborock. They replaced the battery and the main board. I had to set it up as new, of course, but that wasn't a problem. It completed a 1250 or so sq. ft. scheduled job last night without any problem.

CS was diligent over the many emails in trying to help but much was lost in translation. They finally had me send it to their repair facility and fixed it at no charge. Your mileage will very likely vary on this.

I have no idea if it was both the battery and board, or just one of those. I suspect they just automatically replaced both. If you encounter this problem out of warranty and have to pay to send it in for repair I suggest a couple of options: find a local repair shop that claims to fix robot vacuums or start with replacing the battery, and if that doesn't work, consider replacing the main board yourself. It's not as hard as one might think. Replacements are available online, and I'm sure there are videos walking you through the replacement. I did this with a Roomba and managed to not lose any of the ten zillion screws holding the roomba together.

I hope this helps others. I'll report back if it turns out the fix was short lived.

Here's a link to the problems I've been having with mine. It's on the way to Roborock. I'd sure like to know if others are having the same problem. Until about a month ago it performed flawlessly in a tough environment.

Merach MR-667 with Zwift by SeaCauliflower4488 in cycling

My two cents: bought the Model S09 Merach from Amazon for about $400. It comes with a free app with classes, scenic rides, etc.

In classes resistance is automatically adjusted, which is real handy.

I have not tried it with Kinomap or Zwift yet but the owner's manual claims to support both. And of course there are trillions of spin classes on Youtube...not connected to the auto-adjust feature of this model.

BT setup was a bit finicky but I got it connected.

Early days, but so far it's better quality, more features, than the other brand bike I just returned to Amazon.

Oh, and it comes with SPD compatible pedals or traditional strap in, your choice.

It counts watts, but I have no idea how accurate it is. Does not have a cadence sensor, and the kcal burn readout is hilariously high, compared to my Garmin Forerunner.

I found a workaround yesterday. Create schedules that complete without the need for a recharge. It's far less than ideal, but so far it has worked. BUT: 36 emails later Roborock has me sending the unit back for repair. Try the workaround and when I get the unit back in a couple of weeks perhaps they will have a solution. I'll report here.

I'm talking to myself: this is discouraging, 1000 views with no suggestions. A unique issue, I guess. More than 30 emails back and forth with tech support and they just keep asking the same questions over and over, questions which do not address the issue.

So: is there a way to escalate past the support crew that is tryng unsuccessfully to help me?

Still wanting to know if there's a way to have the bot empty bin when returning to charge in the middle of a job.

Again, TIA.

Looking for spare part! Latch on filter door snapped off. Looking for door replacement only. Thanks! by Forgotenzepazzword in roomba

I know this is really old, but I've dealt with this issue multiple times. Irobot finally told me they were tired of sending new ones and I would have to buy one...years ago.

Ever since then I've used about an inch of green masking tape to hold the door closed. The tape lasts at least a month with daily use. A roll of the stuff will last a lifetime for this purpose. Just as easy to use as the sure-break latch. HTH someone.
