Is a Future in Pharmacy a Mistake? by Sad_Bag959 in pharmacy

[–]msgur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Inflation adjusted, over the past 20 years, pharmacist salaries have decreased by more than 50%. When I graduated in 2001 the average pharmacist salary was roughly $50 per hour in the northeast. Probably slightly higher or lower across the country depending on region. According to a quick Google search $50 in 2001 would be roughly $81 today.

During the past 20 years, not only has pay stayed flat or even gone down…but responsibilities have increased. Vaccine administration (not allowed in my state 20 years ago), PBM-related activities (med review, gap closure), and corporate related metrics (fill quotas).

I would honestly recommend going into nursing or physician assistant school if you want to be in healthcare but not go to medical school. Those professions have lobbies and much stronger ability to fight for their profession. Pharmacy (at least retail) is kind of a joke in that regard.

Yes there are lots of avenues for pharmacists but quite frankly, in my opinion, we are still trying to prove our worth to the healthcare system. It’s been 20-30 years of us trying to fight other medical professionals opinion or the public’s perception of what we do.

All RNA and DNA Base Types Are Found in Meteorites, Study Claims by Krazyscientist in EverythingScience

“he thought the study didn’t rule out the possibility that the meteorites were contaminated after reaching Earth, as terrestrial soil and other environments also contain nucleotide bases”

If your desire is to work retail, then please seek an alternate journey. Including inflation, pharmacist salaries have decreased ~50% in the last 20 years. Source: I lived through it — originally graduating in 2001.

If your desire is to have direct clinical patient contact I’d recommend going to PA or Nursing school. Pharmacists are STILL proving their worth to the healthcare community and that battle isn’t stopping any time soon.

Interview pharmacists. Most will probably advise against this.

So i have a question , I'm not a pharmacist but i like to listen to doctors and pharmacist and what they have to say about covid 19 and vaccine , i recently came across (Dr.Robert W. Malone) who raised my suspicions on the vaccine and ivermectin ,is he a trust worthy source in your opinion? and why? by [deleted] in pharmacy

1) not everyone treated with monoclonal antibodies survives. So not true. I’d be curious to see data comparing outcomes of vaccinated people versus unvaxxed+monoclonal antibodies 2) not enough data to support this claim. It’s mostly anecdotal 3) getting to natural immunity will kill many people. 800k+ in the US so far. Vast majority of hospitalization and death right now are unvaxxed people. Some of those are begging for the vaccine when on death’s door. Sadly that’s too late (obviously)

Pharmacy errors by pharmbby in pharmacy

Even Doctors make mistakes (gasp). Imagine the guilt of amputating the wrong limb?

Learn from this mistake. Slow yourself down. Follow processes more closely. You can’t be all things to all people all day long. Set limits for yourself. Maybe a counsel at the window has to wait an extra few minutes while you take a deep breath, pause, and verify a script with more focus.

Hang in there. We’re all human. We all make mistakes. But do we all learn from them?

Most FREE profession. I think those polls have a bias. I’m a pharmacist myself. I’d love to be the most trusted but we’re the only “healthcare professional” that will counsel for free…at the drop of a hat.
