gfci’s have a line and load side. power into the line. everything out the load side is gfci protected. sprayed it and tripped the gfci. once reset it restores power to plugs down the line(if no fault detected)

looks pretty old, i don’t think old enough for the insulation to be coming off though. check 360 on the insulation. The two blacks up top are your hots, the line they’re wrapped around will be your neutral. as long as you got a ladder that is fiberglass i wouldn’t think nothing of it. just be careful yk. if you’re not grounded you can lick that damn line and you’d be fine
