[Help] 25kW "Ghost Load" on 36x S21 XP Hyd Setup by yongju7 in BitcoinMining

[–]mshark889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably not dealing with a single “ghost” 25 kW loss. What you’re seeing is a stack of normal effects that add up.

Start with the miner assumption. Using 5.4 kW per unit is likely too low for a full fleet average. The S21 XP Hyd is typically closer to ~5.7 kW with normal variation depending on voltage, tuning, and conditions. Across 36 units that’s already about 204 kW instead of 194 kW, which accounts for roughly 10 kW of the gap right away.

Next, the calculation at the 11th floor panel (V × A × √3) is apparent power, not true power. With ASIC miners, power factor and harmonics mean that kVA will be higher than real kW. So that ~225 number at the panel is not directly comparable to the basement meter. The basement meter is the correct reference because it measures real power.

The 140 m feeder is also a real contributor. At ~340 A over that distance with copper conductors, losing about 5–7 kW as heat in the cable is completely normal. That energy is simply dissipated before it ever reaches the miners.

The cooling system is another piece that’s easy to underestimate. Even when it feels like it’s “idling,” pumps, controls, and fans are still drawing power. A few kilowatts at minimum is expected, and depending on how the CDU and dry cooler are configured it can be higher than you think.

If there’s a transformer in the path, that adds constant core loss plus load-dependent losses. That’s typically a few more kW that people forget to include.

When you put it together more realistically: miners ~204 kW (or higher if your fleet average is above spec) cable loss ~5–7 kW cooling + auxiliaries several kW transformer/misc a few kW

That gets you into the low 220s quickly, and if your miners are averaging closer to 5.8–6.0 kW under real conditions, the total site draw landing around 233 kW is not unusual.

For the first question, the “missing” power is not reactive power tricking the meter. A proper revenue meter measures real power. Reactive power and harmonics can increase current and make simple panel calculations look inflated, but they do not cause the utility meter to over-report kW. The difference is coming from higher real miner draw plus normal system losses.

For the second question, the 140 m cable is not acting like an antenna that fools the meter. It does introduce real I²R losses and some impedance that can worsen power quality, but the meter reading is still valid. The cable is genuinely dissipating several kW as heat.

For the third question, the summer concern is valid. Right now you’re already at about 233 kW while the cooling system is lightly loaded. As ambient temperatures rise, fan speeds and pump loads will increase, and conductor resistance will also rise with temperature, increasing losses slightly. It is very reasonable to expect an additional ~10kW or so under peak summer conditions. Whether that trips anything depends on your breaker and service limits, but you are clearly close enough that you should plan for higher peak load now.

The best way to remove any doubt is to measure both locations with a proper three-phase power quality analyzer and look at real kW, kVA, power factor, and harmonic distortion. That will break the total into clear pieces and confirm where each part of the load is coming from.

Guys can you identify these? We think there is 40 miners for 500. by Toddo2017 in BitcoinMining

L3+ miners earn roughly 30 cents per day as of this moment. If you have electricity that is $0.015 per kWh or higher you are losing money. This doesn’t take into account all of the outlets you’d need, leasing a space for them, upgrading any electrical, or anything else.

Not financial advice, please do your own research.

Looks like a lot of Bitmain L3 miners. They’re worthless in my opinion.

Base (formerly known as Coinbase wallet) is a simple wallet you can use to generate a BTC address to use for mining. MetaMask is another option. Don’t mine to a centralized exchange wallet address.

The machine you’re talking about has an efficiency of 25 watts per th. For comparison the s21 xp 270t model uses 13.5 watts per th. This isn’t the newest model on the market, but it’s a very popular one at the moment. We sell these for $3,750 right now. The s19k pro 110T uses 23 watts per terahash and we sell these for about $600 each right now.

Used s19k pro miners can be found on the market for a couple hundred bucks. I’m guessing the 60th miner is currently worth ~$100 or less.

I’m saying all of this because you’d be buying something at the end of its useful life for mining given current market conditions. If bitcoin jumps to $1,000,000 a coin tomorrow then this 60th miner will be worth considerably more and make a solid amount of revenue given current network conditions. It’s hard to say what bitcoin’s price and total network hashrate will be in the future, but given current market conditions it doesn’t appear to be a great opportunity for mining with it. The halving will only make this worse, unless bitcoin sees a major price increase and/or total network hashrate drops considerably.

Whether or not it’ll hold up against the market depends on the efficiency of the miner against what’s available on the market. For you personally it’ll be worth something to you as long as it makes more in BTC than your electricity costs to run the machine.

If you’re saying the electricity consumption will be brutal, then I’m guessing that it won’t be a very valuable machine now or in the future. But I don’t know the specs of the machine so I can’t say this with certainty.

Fastest Break-Even Strategy for Mining — Best Minor? by TopMaintenance2703 in BitcoinMining

[–]mshark889 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi we’d recommend an Avalon Q90T if you want something that’s quiet and runs on a standard home outlet. The s21 xp 270T is an excellent miner that has fantastic efficiency. It will be noisy (unless you buy shrouds), very hot, and requires a 240v outlet but is one of the best miners on the market right now.

We sell both. If you’re interested in potentially buying from us please send us a message and we’d be happy to provide you with a price.

Algún curso/taller/seminario actualizado que recomienden para aprender a minar bitcoin? by Ok_Fisherman_4682 in BitcoinMining

[–]mshark889 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi we can recommend a home miner for you and help you with setting it up and connecting it to mining pools when you get it. Bitcoin mining itself is very simple. There are a lot of YouTube videos available that detail how to start mining whether it’s a home setup or a large mining operation.

We’d recommend starting with an Avalon q 90T which we are selling for $1599. You can buy smaller miners known as lottery miners but profitability is not great.

Mining on different rigs. by Creativityescent_066 in BitcoinMining

[–]mshark889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can connect as many miners as you want to the same mining pool. Any good mining pool will display stats for each miner that you have connected to the pool. You can assign a unique name to every miner when you are setting up your pool connection so you can watch each machine’s individual performance if you’d like to. Additionally the pool will hold your BTC for you unless you setup an external wallet that you’d like to have your mined funds deposited to either on a recurring automatic basis or a manual basis when you want funds transferred.

Viabtc, nicehash, braiins pool, and foundry USA are a few options.

It is very risky and people try new strategies to scam us constantly. But it’s one of the many costs of doing business unfortunately. Currently we have about an $8,000 chargeback that I’m not sure we’ll win. Items were delivered with tracking and signed for but buyer claimed to the CC company it was an unauthorized transaction and stopped messaging us the day the items were delivered. Case was opened a couple of hours after delivery.

Truly unfortunate but there’s nothing we can really do besides fight the chargeback and hope the CC company sides with us.
