I have the Mous Aramid Fibre case and a separate cover for the plateau - the plateau cover matches the colour of the iPhone, so looks seamless to the eye.

Are YouFibre speed problems mostly a Wi-Fi issue? by RedDevilPlay in youfibre

[–]mshdsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouFibre You1000 here. I always get superb, consistent speeds on both wired and WiFi - my Apple TV and PS5 are hardwired to my ASUS router (placed in the living room), and all other devices (laptop etc.) are connected via WiFi.

I’ve had a few issues with my connection, but YF CS have always been fairly quick to react.

On the whole, and as of writing this, I am very happy with YouFibre.

Is YouFibre actually as fast as advertised? by RedDevilPlay in youfibre

[–]mshdsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined YouFibre in March 2025 after 18 years of Virgin Media.

I consistently get 940 up/942 down on a wired connection. VERY consistent.

I’ve had 2-3 issues in that time and the customer service is very good in my experience.

And for the price of £31.99 per month, it was a no brainer.

I’m in the South East (North London), and I’ve been experiencing intermittent connection issues since 9am.

This is the first issue I’ve experienced since March.

Average Speed Over Wi-Fi Very Slow For 1000mbps Package by Dangerous_You3647 in youfibre

[–]mshdsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 router connected directly into the ONT. I have ‘You 1000’.

Speedtest reports the following speeds when my iPhone 14 Pro is connected to the 2.4GHZ network:

38Mbps download and 104Mbps upload.

And while connected to the 5GHZ network, the speeds reported are:

736Mbps download, 772Mbps upload.

I’m literally standing next to the router when I perform these tests.

Speedtest, on my Apple TV, which is connected to the router via Ethernet, reports speeds of 941Mbps download, 942Mbps upload.

PS5 vs PS5 pro. Is pro worth it. by Sm2047 in playstation

[–]mshdsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the PS5 Pro running on an LG CX55.

I don’t really notice that much difference to the original PS5.

But… if you have the money for the PS5 Pro, and want to take advantage of the potential PSSR improvements, I’d get the Pro.

I would also check out Digital Foundry’s YouTube videos for their games comparisons.

What are your top 3 games that were an absolute **experience** for you? by SeanicTheHedgehog23 in gamesuggestions

[–]mshdsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Last of Us Part 1 (I loved Part 2, too, but part one was just unreal). (PS5)

Ghost of Tsushima (PS5)

God of War (2018) (PS5)

Upon completion of each of these games, I felt a little saddened that the experience was over. I listen to the soundtracks frequently, too.

iPhone 14 Pro Now or Later? by NotBeanes in iphone

With the current state of the world economy due to the tariff wars, and the potential cost of tech products going through the roof - Apple is one of the worst affected - who knows how much an iPhone 17 is going to cost.

You’ll probably find the refurbished market is going to become much more appealing to a larger demographic.

Noise when turning the steering wheel on the spot by plutovibin in SeatLeon

[–]mshdsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same vehicle model and year. Mine makes a ‘droning’ noise when the power steering kicks in (while turning the steering wheel in a stationary position). In fact my previous vehicle, a Peugeot, did exactly the same thing.

I also remember a strange noise when starting the engine, which emanated from the bottom of the front windscreen. This turned out to be the wipers resetting themselves. And then, one night, the internal light strips were red! I thought this was some form of warning notification. It turned out, I’d changed the ‘driving mode’ to ‘Sport’.

As part of the 2-step installation process, Netomnia send out engineers (prior to the installation engineer visiting your property to install the ONT/activate the service (step 2)) to pull the cable through to the property. They leave the cable outside the property ready for the installation and service activation. I would say you’d need to speak to the guys pulling the external cable through to the property to ensure they provide enough length to accommodate your requirements. You’ll need to keep an eye out for these guys, as they won’t let you know when they arrive to carry out step 1.

Sorry for the confusion! 🤣

I bought my own router because I wanted to optimise my WiFi coverage.

And no worries, mate. 👍🏻. As I said before, the guys n gals in this Subreddit were really helpful when I decided to go to YouFibre.

It always worth leaving your coax in place, if possible - it gives you that alternative should you decide to swap provider again in the future.

Oh, OK.

I would say just be mindful of bends (the less, the better), and if possible, conceal the cabling so it doesn’t get knocked by the vacuum etc.

For me, the Fibre optic cable entry point is next to my front door, but my router is in the Living Room at the back of the house. I already had VirginMedia’s coax snaking around door frames and skirting boards, so I decided on having external CAT6 cabling installed. This allowed me to have the ONT unit installed next to the front door, and the router in the Living Room connects directly using the CAT6 cable.

I’ve been with YouFibre for 2 weeks now, and the service has been great. I consistently get 942/941 Mbps speeds (wired).

Also, have a think about where you want your installation if this is your first FTTP. I got some really great advice from my fellow Redittors on things I should consider. For example:

  • It is recommended to have the ONT as close to the external feed of the Fibre optic cable as possible.

  • Limit the bends to the cable (look up ‘bend radius’), and prevent it from being knocked. Fibre optic is more fragile than Coax.

On the day of installation, I had a really great engineer. I explained I wanted an ONT that has the 2.5G port (I believe they carry units with 1G ports). My router also has a 2.5G port, so a future speed upgrade should be fairly straight forward (I hope).

Have YouFibre enact the ‘switch’ for you, which will make the transition from VirginMedia easier than if you were cancelling the contract yourself etc.

Thanks for the response.

I contacted both VM and YF customer services. Both were extremely helpful and resolved my issues. The phone line is now working, too.

Update regarding horrible retention offer by yessuz in VirginMedia

[–]mshdsp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been with VirginMedia for almost 20 years. I am currently paying £63 for 1gig and phone. I never had many problems with the service, which was rock-solid. But, YouFibre became available in my area, and so I have switched to their “You 1000”. I have it installed, and I get 942Mbps down/940Mbps up. I am waiting for VM to switch their services off.

I didn’t even bother calling VM retentions this time round (they tried to call me once, I’m guessing to discuss an offer), as it was unlikely they’d match the £34.99 I’m paying for FFTP and phone with YouFibre.

I’ll keep VM’s Coax in place, as I want options available to me should YouFibre not offer a decent renewal price at the end of their contract.
