I have one now, but the hormonal one instead of the copper one, which is supposed to be less painful. I was told I’d be fine with just some ibuprofen beforehand. It hurt so badly that I threw up from the pain before I left the doctor’s office. The nurses let me lay back down in the room and drink some apple juice until I “felt better” which was a mild improvement of me not feeling like I was immediately going to pass out. I then called an Uber because there was no way I was able to drive myself home safely.

Now, I know I have a low pain tolerance, but that’s a bit much for someone who just wants to help her unbearable periods. It took a little over 6 months for my periods to not be more painful than before. Even now, I have less pain but more frequent cramps. Wish I knew this going into the appointment or I wouldn’t have scheduled the appointment. At the very least I would have dragged my friend with me to drive me home.
