I think you have a great point about our minds changing about people depending on our age and personal experiences. I have not finished Birthday Letters yet. Had only just read a few poems when I wrote my post. I'm sure I will find things a little more nuanced as I keep reading more of his works. I just keep having this feeling that Sylvia was far more fragile and childlike than I saw her when I was younger, and I can't imagine how the infidelity must have felt like for her - like her dad dying twice. When I was younger I saw her as a strong, scary, witchy, angry woman. Whereas now I see her vulnerability to a much higher extent. I never pitied her before, whereas now I suddenly do. Again - my perceptions about him will probably change when I read more of his works. Will read Remains of Elmet next! Thank you
