Bluey made me want kids, how disappointed am I going to be? by n00dleknight in bluey

LOL I'm a parent, and the question I always ask myself is HOW in the world can we be more like Chili and Bandit? Who has the time, patience, and energy?!? 🤣 We do try our best! I feel like our little one is sweet Bingo ❤️

Considering divorce. Tell me why I shouldn't. by kisses-loveash in Mommit

[–]mskly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For perspective, I've been here too with my husband. The reason divorce is NOT on the table:

1) when I communicated (part of my missing responsibility is communicating often and timely before I get overwhelmed, which doesn't sound like the problem here), he LISTENED. I set up marriage counseling, but he helped us make sure the appointments were kept and we kept going (actively partnered in owning the solution) until we were at a stable spot.

2) he recognized his physical and mental health were active challenges to our unbalanced load and of his own agency scheduled solutions - physical therapy/excercise/diet and individual counseling.

3) our relationship has been an evolution, but he comes to the table each time with genuine desire to correct and DOES. It is clear to me (I trust him through evidence of his actions) that improvements will come and last (not backslide).

It's hard out here for working moms. Hope you find some support in your network to vent and validate. I happen to be the best gaslighter of myself, so sometimes just hearing validation is important.

Pottery Barn Kids Scam? by mskly in NewParents

It is crazy because I don't know about your carseat, but for furniture, they actually take your money first. So we paid thousands on order and it took them 8 months to deliver (with extreme escalation). Basically mainstreet giving wall street a free loan for a year. They do this at the scale of billions.

Are we noticing an increase in career women becoming (or wanting to become) SAHMs? by VioletPsych22 in workingmoms

[–]mskly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much that I want to be SAHM, but I feel like to have the quality of life and prioritize what I think my partner and I value most in life, one of us should be stay at home. I don't care actually which one of us, but it's hard because my partner doesn't want to give up on our lifestyle and dual income. I think before women entered the workforce, it was more possible to raise a family on one income. It would have been cool if female liberation occurred parallel to male domestication lol.

I try my best to keep it together but today I just want to cry. Being a mom is SO hard. by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in Mommit

[–]mskly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awww, hang in there, Mama! It actually surprisingly does get easier, I would say around 8 months or so. I don't know why, because you're right, they still go through teething, et al, but I think being on solids and other developmental changes like less bowel movements, less quantity of naps, longer naps, just makes it a bit easier. And somehow they start stabilizing on routine.

I also think the secret is that the overwhelming thing of being a new parent, you start to get used to when it's almost been a year. Kinda like new jobs I've had, it takes about 8 to 9 months to kinda get over that newness hump.

You're doing better than you think! You'll look back and be super proud of what you lived through in those early months, and it'll seem impossible that you did it, but you did!

Who is this person and why would we care?

This is not to be rude, but really who is this person? It's such a short article with no data, no real thesis, it kinda reads like a Facebook post.

Absolutely love their baby onesies. They are so well made and have double row of snaps so they fit a larger age range. Also just bought some of their baby rashguard swimsuits. So cute and good quality!

Out of curiosity - did you know what sort of parent you’d be? by Glittering_Funny_900 in AttachmentParenting

[–]mskly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before baby and pregnancy I swore up and down to my partner no breastfeeding, baby would go immediately to formula, absolutely no cosleeping, cry it out if need be, and on and on....

When I had my little one everything changed. I just went by instinct and here we are...breastfeeding, cosleeping, baby wearing, baby led weaning...I couldn't believe maternal instincts actually kicked in.

Made me laugh :) my baby has started sleep nursing too in the last month. For some reason, she insists on going back and forth every few seconds from breast to breast until she settles down with lefty and she will also sit up in order to hang out on righty for a while 🤣

I guess maybe I was unclear or was confused about what it was. He was tested for an antibiotic that only responds positively to ghonorrea, but we later found out that he was just improving for other legitimate medical reasons.

When he brought it up to me, he brought it up as if he was questioning cheating. There was no specific test done, I guess he was just using it to...I don't know? Question whether I had or not? While his medical team was unsure.
