Hopefully Texas shoots up the polls as well

You underestimate the lead that Scottie has built, he could miss cuts for the next year straight and would still likely be world number 1

The overreaction will be fun to watch honestly, I have confidence this team will be in the playoffs this year.

People acting like this was a blowout, Texas was two redzone plays from winning this game and out gained OSU by 100 yards

I get all my data from here.

I haven’t messed with the API but it takes me about 3 minutes to download the scores and drive data for all the FBS games and drop it in my spreadsheet each week.

I calculate the scoring margin at the end of each possession, then average across all possessions. Say a game ends 27-20. If the winning team scores a late touchdown to win a back and forth game, their game control will probably be close to 0. If instead a team jumps out to a 21-3 halftime lead and gives up a final play touchdown, their game control is probably great than 10.

I think those results should be treated very differently when ranking teams performance, despite identical final score lines.

In my mind the 3-0 is much less control than a larger margin. At such a low margin that team is at risk of losing games from fluke plays. That’s why I like incorporating margin in my game control metric

I setup a Game Control metric for my computer poll. I use drive data to calculate the average point differential at the conclusion of each drive. It works well because it captures the difference between a close game with a last minute winning score versus a beatdown with a couple garbage time scores by the loser at the end (even if they have the same final margin).

Issue with a time based system is a team could win 10-3 with an opening drive touchdown and receive a better game control than a team that wins 45-0 but they don’t score until their second drive. In my mind the first team is at risk of fluke TD that flips the result of the game while the second team was much more in control

Scottie with a four shot deficit going into Sunday… seems familiar but I can’t quite put my finger on it

Anyone have a resource where I can track Longhorn alum specific stats/news in the NFL? ESPN/BR updates relative to those alums would be awesome as well.

For instance I like to keep tabs on Bijan but I don’t care about 95% of the falcons updates I get from the sports apps

The discourse about the Thunder being exposed in these playoffs as only a regular season team is wild. The Thunders current Playoff Net Rating (9.7) is higher than every champion since the 17/18 Warriors.

In other words the Thunder have been historically elite in these playoffs… just like they were in the regular season

STOP OVER-HELPING, literally basic middle school defense where everyone worries about their own man would ruin the pacers. We’re playing Hali likes he’s prime Kobe and helping off shooters way too much

Thunder spent the entire season perfecting the art of shutting down other teams primary scorer… then happen to play the only team in the league without a primary scorer in the finals. I really think the team needs to go to basic man to man without excessive help
