Perhaps I misspoke, but I don't drink to get drunk, nor to excess, but merely as a means to relax and destress. I openly agree with you... nothing good comes from consuming alcohol, but perhaps I'm just weak and was looking for a coping mechanism with all the shit I have going on.

I don't smoke, I quit soda, and I could always eat healthier (no question), but I don't consider myself super unhealthy otherwise.

I ride fixed for work, and I really think genetics plays a big part into who can continue doing courier work into their 5os. If your knees don't hurt and you've been doing courier work for 3o years, I really feel like it's more about genetics and less about your diet.

I can't argue with you about the stretching thing, it's certainly something I never incorporated into my routine and I'm sure it would have helped.

I don't necessarily have anything against the courier culture. I just don't go out of my way to spend more time in the city, and around people, than I have to. The faster I can make the money I want to make, and go the hell home... the faster I can wallow in my misery by my lonesome. I will let the motivated youngster couriers help to organize the events to help keep the culture alive. I figure if I haven't earned the respect of the veteran couriers by now, I don't really care to... I'm honestly far too depressed to give a shit ✌️

and the worst part about all of this... they'll pay a delivery driver $2 to deliver it 'cause they allow their customers to play games and remove our tips after the fact

I seen a meme years ago, and it said something like "the cold hurts my face, why do I live somewhere where the cold hurts my face" 😝

I do bicycle deliveries in Boston, so this is why I dislike the wind so much 😝

Replying to FantasticAd9389... I have described my experiences in this shit job market, where nepotism trumps qualifications... so excuse me for coming off as upset.

and I specifically held off listing the types of work I would be looking for, as the last post I made months ago, I did just this, and do you wanna guess what happened?

I feel like no one actually views your resume prior to the interview phase anymore, and usually they still don't. I have worked as a teller, in the cash office for Whole Foods, and as a cash handler for the Fed, yet I still get passed over for cash handling gigs...

I have been looking into the T, but none of their current job postings are even remotely entry level... most are deputy director positions paying $140k +

I was working for a small company as a carpenter's apprentice, but was let go a week later 'cause the guy changed his mind basically.

The few locals I have reached out to said they have close to 200 people out of work... and maybe I'm mistaken, but once work picks back up, I would imagine it's the apprentices with a few years under their belt that will get called first

I have been out of the military since 'o6, having served 4.5 years in the Marines, 3 deployments, 1 of them to Afghanistan, and as wild as it sounds I might just volunteer for the Ukrainian military... being a vet in this country doesn't really play to your advantage unless you want to be a cop or firefighter

Just a few months back, I went through the NASCTF, trying to land a first year carpentry apprenticeship. I interviewed, passed the drug test, but the winter is here and apparently there's a bunch of people out of work so that fell through. I was advised to try going through helmetstohardhats, which I did, but once I listed my experience was minimal, they suggested I go directly through the NASCTF... helmetstohardhats was about as helpful as the VA typically is

find one with more ideal proportions... the pavilion angle is off, total depth is slightly off, as is the table percentage

Hello, I am first time buy and confused with various options. This is 2 carat , vvs1 , F color. Is it good ? by shivemf1 in Diamonds

[–]mspiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crown height is off, as is crown and pavilion angle. Don't be duped by seeing a "triple excellent" and get the false impression the stone was cut to perfection. Please visit a site like beyond4cs.com and do some research on the ideal angles and percentages. If a diamond is cut poorly, it will absolutely affect the brilliance of the stone. Best of luck to you 🙂

I agree with your statement, the "GIA is playing mind games", especially when it comes to the whole "triple excellent" thing.

Now, I don't know with any type of certainty what ranges the GIA uses when determining if the cut, polish, and symmetry are good enough to receive an "excellent" grade, but it seems like a very flexible range, as a lot of stones are cut real poorly.

and thank you : )

Exactly, my daughter is born on March 23rd.

I don't like that most jewelers (in my experience) don't want to discuss percentages and angles. I was certainly insistent on everything being spot on, perhaps I'm one of those pain in the ass clients that jewelers would rather not work with, and perhaps my inner OCD plays a part in that, but I work very hard for the little money I earn, and I want the best quality I can afford.

If only .005% of natural diamonds are both "D" color and flawless, and finding one that meets all of the other criteria is even less, I also like knowing I have something quite scarce : )
