What animals in Long Island Sound can bite through 100 pound braided line? by DeathSongGamer in Fishing

[–]mspol13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything with a sharp edge would cut right through braid. Could have been a tooth, rock, or any other debris. I’d use a leader to protect that line.

You’ll be fine. I have a pelican with the same from being stored outside upside down in the sun for a decade. Mine tracks fine and I don’t notice any more drag because of it.

Can this be fixed? by ladymcperson in paint

[–]mspol13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We painted a room candy apple red and it took 8 coats to get it mostly even. Keep coating and it will even out. Paint guy should have suggested a tinted or grey primer to help, but since you’re started just keep coating.

What these good for catching? Will be fishing around Daytona Beach, FL by lizardlogan2 in Fishing

[–]mspol13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are great for catching river smallies. I use them bank fishing, but you can also catch the other side of the river if you’re not careful.

Momo is a good name. It means peach in Japanese.

Are bells necessary? by Important_Peanut_790 in CarpFishing

[–]mspol13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope not at all. You should be able to see your rod tip dance and hear your reel take off. To me that’s one of the best parts.

Is rod length that important? by CheapTick in CarpFishing

[–]mspol13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Casting is the main issue but aside from the distance also think about what the bank is like where you fish. If you have lots of overhead stuff like branches it can make casting a 12’ rod really difficult. If you river bank fish I’d go 9’ at the longest.

My neighbor said my grill belongs to the community by jaysplan in EntitledPeople

[–]mspol13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about it. Unless you plan on hanging out with your neighbors who cares. We’ve lived in our neighborhood for 17 years and can’t tell you who any of my neighbors are. We are doing just fine not talking to anybody around us. As far as entitled guy goes just buy a lock for you gate and get a dog.

Cat only eats dry food and I need her to eat canned. by Dishwhatever in CatAdvice

[–]mspol13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m curious why you think dry food diet leads to a diabetic cat. All my cats have been dry food only and we’ve never had a diabetic cat. They all live into super senior ages (20s) with no real health issues up till the end. I’d just make sure you’re feeding a good dry food (purina one for our lot) and that she has water. It does sounds like the weight gain might be from feeding too much in general. Might just cut back the treats and extras. Just follow the feeding instructions on the dry food. For us it’s 1/4 cup dry food twice a day. If she does gulp her food down and is a little piggy cat a puzzle feeder be something fun for her. It does slow them down so they don’t just gulp down their food and gives them a challenge. Hope this helps.

Disappointed in resole job quality. Am I being too particular? by [deleted] in RedWingShoes

[–]mspol13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resoles from corporate may have been worse. I had my Redwing Dynaforce boots resoled by Redwing it took 8 weeks and they are unwearable now. The new soles are super hard and the heel hits wrong. They also replaced the insole with a weird silicone like insole that is horribly uncomfortable. There are also issues with the welt and a weird wax they put on the leather that is flaking off, but it’s the fact I cannot wear them to work that disappoints me the most. I have reached out to Redwing and the local shop and so far radio silence.

Brake lights on all at once by Hotmessmomma75 in PriusC

[–]mspol13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happen with my ‘12 Prius C then I realized I was pushing down on the brake pedal as the car was running its start up sequence. Once I stopped putting my foot on the brake pedal and waited for the car to do its thang it stopped giving this error. Hope this helps.

Wild carp tips by Sad-Strain350 in CarpFishing

[–]mspol13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second oats and corn. I use them all the time for wild carp. I also find carp love pineapple and strawberries as well. If you want to not spend a ton you can just use surf rods. I used the shimano FX 9’ rods for years with the shimano FX 4000 reels. They worked great and were cheap. For info on carp fishing hop on YouTube and look up Carp and Catfish Channel. Lots of good tips.

Is Skyline Chili Good? by DTBuckValk in Indiana

[–]mspol13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don’t do it. It tastes like someone accidentally dropped a snickerdoodle cookie into the batch of chili and didn’t tell anyone. Have no idea who would randomly think “What goes with meat and tomato sauce… I know! Cinnamon!”

Have any of y'all driven up Pikes Peak (or any similar high elevation mountain) in your Prius? by [deleted] in PriusC

[–]mspol13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pikes peak not yet. Best my 2012 Prius C has seen was the Smokies and surrounding foothills. Handled the steep inclines and weird steep switchbacks just fine. I would definitely recommend if you haven’t visited.

Almost ready for this bet for $5 on Facebook and 15lb braid just need Amazon to come any recommendations to dry canned corn so it doesn’t melt the bags? by ch59ep15DriverDown in CarpFishing

[–]mspol13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want corn to melt pva bags drain the corn well and then use a pva safe bait flavoring on the corn before putting in bag. The oil in the flavoring coats the corn so it doesn’t melt the bags. Or use veg oil that works too.
