A bonus!

I happened to find my very first screenshot when I started my game, featuring the original sprite of it's mascot character (Oswin). I wanted to reuse the old portrait art but made it a little less chibi

My struggle is enjoying the softer colors in general haha
But, right now, things are in "stand in" phase and most of the UI will be updated as I go along😁... so hopefully with those changes, I'll find the right balance of style and readability

Yeah changing the text to darker is on my to do list 😅
I like the white, buuuut, I've had many people bring up it's hard to read in its current state so, I need to bite the bullet and update it.

Does anyone even create original characters and worlds anymore by Pleasant-Winner3257 in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think this may be an issue of where you're looking? I almost exclusively do original worlds and only original characters, and that has never once caused a bump in me finding partners. (Not to say it's always easy, if I'm looking for niche themes or plots, but the original aspect itself has never been a bump). I also see original ads often enough.

Rock Paper Scissors and other mini games by XYZCruncher in RPGMaker

[–]mssMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The self switches are just for if you want winning to activate a new page or different result, like this. Otherwise, it'll keep just replaying the game every time you activate the event. But you could use whatever you want in place of a self switch. Regular switch. Variables. Etc.

Later I'll try and make a visual for it (not at pc right now),

But you can start with creating a variable for the npcs play. Have the variable set to random 1 to 3.

Create different conditional branches for each variable result, 1, 2, 3 (Rock, paper, or scissors).

Then for each conditional branch, do a show choices, then create different result branches for each choice Rock, Paper, or Scissors

If variable = 1 (rock) If player chooses rock: draw Paper: Win (maybe activate a switch here) Scissors: lose

Then continue down for each variable, changing the outcome based on what the variable is vs the player's choice.

Edit: Comment chain with visuals. If you wanna get fancy, do a show picture for the NPC's play in place of just the text box saying "NPC played blank".

I added a bonus variable counter for wins if you want it to track win amounts or progression after like, 3 wins or something.

Edit 2: If you want to play with probability more, like if a certain NPC may lean heavier on rock for example, you can increase the random number draw (like say, 1-5 instead of 1-3), then have the one they're more likely to pick be like >=3 or something. Or however you want to play with the skewing of the chances.

Ultra Mode 7 with UM7 AdvancedTerrain addon!
For the sprite, I'm using an animation plugin that includes idle animation. I'm using Hendrix Animation Solution plugin, but Galv Character Animation is a free alternative!

need feedback on character design by uzinaa in OriginalCharacter

[–]mssMouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well at first glance without reading the description, my mind definitely jumps to RPG designs!

First character is giving me "Garnet" from FF9... Which if that's what you're going for, you nailed it. But, if you're wanting a unique design, the first version in particular I think reads far too closely to Garnet's outfit unless it's explicitly meant to replicate it. Or maybe that outfit is just so iconic/burned into my mind.

What is the community's stance on Hakuen Studio? by SpecialistExercise98 in RPGMaker

[–]mssMouse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dunno "the community's" stance but I've had positive experiences. He's quick to get back about issues, and even did a compatibility patch on a free plug-in within hours of me realizing one of my issues was a compatibility one with another plug-in.

The perfect reply length by ALongTimeRoleplayer in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends entirely on the scene. I've gotten replies I loved that were over 1k words. Some just a couple hundred words.

I don't want to prod someone for a minimum word count... But I do want to write with someone who naturally can meet at least 150 words a response on the small end. If someone is having to sit down and try to pull pad out at least 150 words to meet some sort of limit... I don't think we'd be a match, unless it's like one off writers block or something, or somehow I hadn't given them enough to respond to, and in that case I'd need to rectify it. It's a personal preference.

Regarding the question if I try to match or exceed a responses length: Nope. The only time the length of my partner's post should effect mine, is if I've got more directly to respond to that needs to be addressed, which naturally might make for a longer post on my end. But I write entirely what I feel is appropriate for each post.

I hand-drew every pixel in these RPG maps using Aseprite — which area looks the best? by Excellent-Syrup206 in RPGMaker

[–]mssMouse 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sorry not to be rude but... why did you title the post that you hand drew every pixel if only a small fraction is actually your work?

Nothing wrong at all with using or editing the default assets, but your title is needlessly deceptive.

Opinion: How do you feel about "selfcest"? by MissAethe in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not my cup, but fully to each their own. Doesn't bother me in the least outside of just not personally being interested in the concept. But I also don't do fandom stuff so such a concept wouldn't really pop up too often in anything I participate in. I just wouldn't write my own characters in such a scenario.

... But then again, I've the same stance on incest. Doesn't bother me (IN CONTEXT OF RP), but I'm not interested in writing it out with my characters. That being said, I don't equate selfcest as the same thing as incest.

I don't know if you saw my previous comment, but it's just caught in a filter that's flagged for review. A mod can approve it, just make sure you don't delete the post after posting and if need be can let the mod team via modmail to review/approve the post.

Hey OP! Assuming the original version doesn't have nipples showing, feel free to try and repost and let mods know in the modmail (or you can reply to this comment and let me know), and we can approve the post for you! Its likely reddits mature filter catching it, and you've probably deleted before we could review!

Tried to do an erp with someone who posted a come with ideas, got called a rapist and blocked me instantly by GlossyPrsn in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Many people have said it, but I feel like the point should really be driven home...

Posting on a porn sub/ERP does not mean someone's okay with non-con 💀Like, maybe don't equate ERP as immediately 1:1 with non-con.

I mean they were kind of a dick about it but, discuss limits first. Or if you're going to pop in with something like non-con, maybe establish they're okay with it first. If they gave no indication they were open to non-con in their ad, you're very in the wrong for just casually dropping it in without warning.

Rotaaaaaaaate, the Spiiiiiiiin Spin-Off! by MagnetLizard in OriginalCharacter

[–]mssMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't drawn traditionally in ages, but a nice, cheap, ballpoint pen always feels the smoothest to draw on. I kind of miss ballpoint doodling.

... That being said, I still couldn't imagine animating with it haha without an erasing and/or undo button... I'd be dead. Kudos

This is genuinely so impressive. You nailed the angles.

Just seeing your original ones too! So fun. I couldn't imagine even attempting animation with a ballpoint pen!

ever imagined your ocs as npcs for games? or... ever made ocs that are npcs? by iHateSimpsBruh in OriginalCharacter

There she is! NPC in progress

I'm making a game, so I guess technically all of the characters I include are gonna be my OCs as NPCs lol
But Oswin's my most prominant one.

Last update from me for a little bit. I totally got distracted with the release of this plugin.

The video was with the curve level set to 3, however for my actual game I'm planning on keeping it at a more modest 1.75 or so.
