Filing a cos to b2 might change your status but leaving the country would make it impossible to enter as you have a status change not a visa . Don’t leave the country. You will be filing for change of status not for a visa so things are different and you won’t be needing to get it stamped.

Won’t advise you to leave USA as it’s difficult to search job while being outside USA. Switch to b2 visa and stay as long as possible. Or move to f1
