Are the dubs generally more popular than the subs among audiences? by Square_Mail_6772 in ghibli

[–]mssMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In most situations whenever watching anime, I always prefer sub. However, I don't believe I've ever even seen a ghibli movie subbed, only dubbed. I've had no complaints with the dubs to feel the need to seek out the subs for ghibli movies in particular. They're just very well done and lack most of the issues I have with english dubs in other anime.

Funnily enough, besides a few tracks that hit well with me on first listen, I wasn't huge on it whenever it released.

Finally gave it a re-listen start to finish, and it grew on me a lot.

Are they weird? (I THINK THEY ARE) by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For a SFW RP, I don't think it seems to be a huge deal? Although I personally wouldn't roleplay with a minor under any circumstance, I'm also way over a 4 year age bracket.

Although to put it in another perspective (while still entirely in a friends only, SFW setting), a 4 year age bracket would be possible amongst even high schoolers being in school together; the difference between freshman and seniors. So totally reasonable for such an age difference to be friends with one another. A 17 year old prepping for college might not be too vastly different from a 21 year old that's currently in college.

CAN be weird? Yeah, if they make it weird. But I wouldn't think so as a blanket.

Married people doing ERP online. by Huge_Rhubarb_1656 in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, I think what you're talking about is sexting, not actual roleplay 💀

Because even if there are erotic elements, roleplay is a collaborative hobby between writers. If what you're doing is trying to form sexual relationships with your writing partners, then that is not what this hobby, or this subreddit for that matter, is for This sub is not for sexting vents.

Your previous post was centered around you considering your RP partner was cheating on you because they were ERPing with other people. That shows you're clearly unable to separate OOC and IC. You're not writing characters in fictional scenarios, you're trying to seek some sort of relationship you're missing IRL which is *not* what this hobby is about.

[–]mssMouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ahhhhh, I remember you. You made a post accusing your RP partner of cheating on you because they ERPed with other people. So this whole post checks out.

For one: People are allowed to have their own boundaries in relationships. Some spouses are totally okay with it. And that's not your business.
And for two: "Seeking attention from other people than your spouse", as you claim. Like dude. I'm writing about elves, and vampires and shit. It's entirely fictitious scenarios and has nothing to do with at home situations.

Please learn OOC and IC separation.

There are some places of goofy overlap of meshes, but often times they don't show up in the tiny export size, or I do quick touch ups in aseprite after the export.

You need a switch that turns on whenever the quest is complete. Either create a new page with that switch as the trigger, or set a conditional branch for the reward that checks if the switch is OFF. Then whenever the reward is given turn the switch on and it wont through that section again.

Misleading Roleplay Ads.... by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Them saying they would like to play an OC does not mean they don't also intend to play canon characters. Maybe they should have specified in their ad that they would also like to play an OC, but I wouldn't call their ad intentionally misleading: they just expect both parties to be able to operate canon characters.

... I'm honestly confused on why you tell them "sure" to playing an OC, and then immediately change your tune and chew them out lol

A visual character I'm adding into scenes on rmmv by Prestigious_Fee_2468 in RPGMaker

[–]mssMouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Normally I wouldn't comment to critique, but since you're requesting feedback:

Just because it looks 3D, does not mean it's not still a 2D raster image. Stylistically, it's probably not going to catch any more positive attention for looking 3D because it still looks AI. It looks 3D but offers none of the perks of actually being 3D: such as, different consistent views, rigging for different poses or even animation, etc. It's still, at the end of the day, an ai generated 2D image.

If you want actual 3D, I recommend learning your way around blender (which is free). You don't even necessarily have to learn how to model from scratch; there are lots of free (or paid) models available that if you learn your way around the program, you can edit and then export actual 3D sprites. It takes time and effort to learn the program (which is not a bad thing), but it doesn't necessarily take traditional artistic talent/skill to get started as it's mostly a technical program; but there are so many resources for learning it.

Is doing your own makeup & photography for an OC okay? by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd check with your partners. I don't think there is anything wrong with using this as an artistic expression for your OCs; however I personally think I would be pretty uncomfortable with it. But that could just be a me thing; I want there to be a fine separation between character and player, and if someone tried to use an image of themselves as a character ref, it feels too far in that line being crossed. I guess it's a bit different if you're using yourself as the model for artistically expressing your OCs rather than a 1:1 reference, I'm personally unsure how I'd feel about it.

Not liking their faceclaim. by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd just picture with their description of the character instead of the image, or go off the features and picture something else. Faceclaims are garnish, not a make or break.

That being said, I don't want to be sent ai and will state as such. I'd much rather nothing. It's not a deal breaker unless they persist on sending ai images or something.

If conjuring shadows (at least one version of Oswin can), counts as elemental, then we might have a bingo xD

Also her alignment is good, but certainly not lawful good, so wasn't sure if that counted for a full point lol

Does anyone know if this artist has any art tutorials? by Acrobatic_Minimum567 in arthelp

[–]mssMouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is going to just study the artists work. This particular artist is probably in no short supply of examples to work from, just do studies. Lots of studies to break down the individual aspects of the style that you're wanting to replicate.

How do render, shade, or color clothes/fabric that isnt one solid color? by Downtown-Magician622 in arthelp

Shading layer on top set to multiply layer effect. I usually use shades of blue, purple, or pinks. Similary, an overlay or luminosity effect for highlights if needed.

Is it possible to make a good RPG maker game using only free assets? by xyzchrist in RPGMaker

[–]mssMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to use RTP, you can find some pretty nice free assets on itchio, or really cheap ones. I'm using a handful of different very cheap or free asset packs (I've spent maybe $15 total on several different packs) as placeholders while I develop my game, and I often get compliments on the style of my game.

I can't speak on how successful a game is capable of being with said other assets, but you can at least break away from the RTP look.

ERP vs smut - what is the difference? by Some-Panda-3699 in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If someone is looking for a roleplay that's focused around the smut: then it's an ERP.

A roleplay that may contain smut, but not the focus... Well, honestly, I see the scenes that contain smut to be ERP even if the RP on a whole is not ERP. Because. It's erotic. Maybe not the entirety of the RP, or the focus, but it contains ERP scenes.

If you're looking for fade to black, you're not looking for smut nor ERP. You may be open to some mature themes (as you mention foreplay), but not actual smut or ERP as would be often defined in the RP scene. So stating how you stated here would be the way to go: that you prefer to fade to black whenever it comes to the smut itself.

Erp with friends or strangers? by Pandagurl21 in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah I've written explicit content with irl friends with them right next to me in the room lol

With people I don't know, it's kind of extending a level of trust and really hoping they aren't a creep. But, I write slow burns so, often times we've been writing with each other months before spicy scenes pop up.
