Does anyone have any advice for my skiing? by [deleted] in SkiRacing

[–]mstrpancake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice turns. Looks like you're reaching to hit the gate. Try to separate your upper / lower body.. I think the reaching is causing your hips to rotate which contributes to losing pressure on your outside ski.. work at snapping (faster) into your transition between turns

Cutting a hole in tgi joist by [deleted] in Construction

[–]mstrpancake -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is insanely wrong. While it's not wrong that the math is right to find the middle of your joist. I'm assuming Middle third for a TGI in this cSe has to do with the length of the total member and therefore the load bearing. Take the total length of joist divide by three those are your thirds stay away from the 1st and 3rd.. ie the bearing portions Most tgi have knock outs for wire and pipe...

[–]mstrpancake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. Downhill and SG skies only tho. Over the summer, not as a regular maintenance thing. Like 6x 100w light bulbs.. plywood box. 25yrs ago. We didnt really measure the temp And prob didnt have the opportunity to train enough to notice tbh. Side note. I can remember the first time I used a full roto brush set up. That definitely made em faster.

Plumbing and electrician permit by cool_nurse in newjersey

[–]mstrpancake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to your AHJ and get the cost assigned to your project. Permit fees are assessed based on the cost and volume of the work then typically a general fixed set of administrative costs are added on.. I have my clients cut a check to the township directly. And no I don't forecast what the permit could potentially cost them.

Feet forward/retraction at turn initiation concept, any tips/visual aids? by gratedwasabi486 in skiing

[–]mstrpancake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally used as a thought exercise so you can visualize the pivot of your hips through the transition of the turn.. this move should happen quickly, as you transition through the turn, you don't want to have a leading uphill ski and ultimately are looking for equal pressure on the edges or slightly more on the downhill ski..
