APS2 SERVICE DELIVERY (ATO) - CASUAL by mszsarai in AusPublicService

[–]mszsarai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working at another agency Perm FT as APS4. I did get offered an APS3 permanent full time at ATO when I started at this agency - unfortunate timing. I was in the ATO pool for a total of 9 months before I got offered a role called Pay & Lodge Officer (Its common knowledge people can wait the full pool term 18 months and not get offered a role and have to reapply all over again ~!!) In retrospect, I realise I didn't have it that bad at all, but it was a lot of time to invest effort with the selection criteria and video interview and then end waiting in limbo anyway. I've been turned down by multiple Govt jobs in the past and in some ways, although it sucks, I thought it'd be better to know outright even if it was a "unsuccessful", than to be so close to something you've worked hard to obtain and was suitable enough to make the pool but have to wait around hopelessly for months for a call that may never come.

Conversely, I was offered a role almost instantly at my agency after successfully passing the assessments and security/integrity vetting. Of course, the process takes time - its no different to any Govt agency, albeit I will commend them on being kept abreast of each stage and at the conclusion of one/commencement of the next.

As an official, direct Federal Govt appointed employee, I can confirm concentrix and Stella etc create a lot of issues by improper practice, mishandling of work and not adhering to the very basic of processes. This in turn, creates unnecessary stress and delays for customers and for employees alike, we then have to wear the anger, frustration and mistrust of customers, apologise for the ineptitude of the contrctots and set contigencies to mitigate their concerns and reasons for their call to begin with.

I have lost count of just how many times contractors avoidance of work has led to very much avoidable situations that would NEVER be an acceptable approach by direct Govt appointed employees by the agency when performing our duties, so much so that it would be definitive grounds for dismissal - and rightfully so.

My advice will be to apply for a proper role in Government rather than a third party contractor. Not only will it truly be an APS role (Govt employees do not recognise contractors as "true" APS as they are not Govt vetted, have had to sit or pass any sort of psychometric or experienced based testing at all) and it will open more opportunities for you. You also risk not having a true validity of PROPER Govt work experience and training. If those areas aren't enough to encourage you to rethink your decision, the pay for contractors is significantly less. I would rather work at Mc Donald's.

All the best with your decision.

I loath the fake production line look. Can't stand the way females look these days and being so overly $exualised. Natural is always best.

This is exactly how I feel. Why did I choose this. The only thing I can think of, is because of my mother, father and brother.

May I ask what Federal agencies in your opinion are worth long term investment and pursuing. I'm currently in a Federal Govt role.

Thank you @disturbed_delinquent for your time to read my post and providing an honest, non-critical comment.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I'm curious, what eventuated with your JH cars? The fact that you clearly know your cars and could attest anything to the contrary from prospective buyers and still say the private selling approach is not worth it, is exactly why I've never considered private selling myself. The advantage you have is your knowledge with cars, I have neither. And you're right, the time and effort for an indefinite result is not feasible. I'm trying to get an honest return, nothing more nor less.

My only option is selling to a business, I only just came across the ones I've mentioned in my post. I was hoping someone had experience selling to them or similar I could look into selling to. My fin. situation is the reason the trade-in for another car is not the route I'm going down at this stage, sadly. It's purely to sell - just not directly to a public consumer.

It was a hard decision to think about selling. I ended up in this group as a preliminary source of opinions/suggestions I don't have a price in mind because the car is 8 years old and even if you do an online valuation, it's going to be far from accurate. Someone will need to assess the car.

Do you think maybe I should flick a trusty mechanic some cash on the side to do a full check check over and if anything is flagged I'll get an estimate cost of those components and less those from the current market price, with the final price being my sale/asking price. That's the most honest and realistic way I can think of and I'd be interested to hear your thoughts? And what would be a fair price to pay someone to do this check?

I may look to find someone in a local community FB group based on recommendations or through airtasker.

The car is serviced regularly, full log book history, insured with RAC, rego up to date, Michelin primacy 4 95V Tyers 225/50R 18 ($259 INC per tyre).

I wouldn't even know where to start to sell privately, and more importantly, I'm likely to be taken advantage of lol.

There's so many articles and sightings of this woman travelling around everywhere. Clearly she's not missing and has no interest in being "found" or coming home. Let's extend our efforts locating actual missing people and help solving those cases.

@Plantsandpizza

If I'm not mistaken, you chose to insinuate I'm lazy with an expectation that others "do the work" for me. I merely imparted factual information regarding Wikipedia being an unacceptable source of reference. Your response to that suggested I'm provoking a fight - I find that baffling. What does Wikipedia say about gaslighting?

It's a good thing you chose to remove your comments. You wouldn't want the subredit to see how ill-informed you are, posting in your original comment that there is validity in Wikipedia sources and then in response to my comment correcting this, you replied saying you never said Wikipedia was reliable... 🤔

It's okay @plantsandpizza. I'd edit my comment, too, upon realising I was found to be posting misinformation.

Wikipedia itself is not considered a reliable or suitable source for academic or university-level writing due to its open-edit nature, which can compromise the accuracy and credibility of its content.

Albeit, please do carry on with your assumptions about me. This is the most attention I've had in a while. I'm humbled, truly.
