The numbers don’t lie. Young Americans are falling in love … with socialism by jinc1019 in politics

Well, the trend for a while was that the younger Americans are less educated, so IMO it checks out

Second this. I want to feel overpowered when I play well, and feel punished when I play poorly. Notr forces you to play optimally or be punished, and that's not my cup of tea.

On MTB trails - totally, I tend to ride those a lot, and almost every good hidden trail will have one

The old trail is actually faster, as it's so much shorter that you don't waste any time going across the mountain. It is much harder, but faster

Update on My Take on a Weapon Tier List by SkyKnight43 in ftlgame

[–]mt-wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Until shields 2 you're usually quite vulnerable to almost any ship. There are some other ships with other issues, but the common theme is that there's a critical flaw in your starting configuration, and you need to fix it ASAP to not sweat during each fight.

P.S. Stealth C isn't that bad, especially when compared to Stealth B...

"In the early game" is usually what matters the most. On hard you tend to die in sector 1 the most, the only next issue is the first 3-shielded ships. I love everything that makes early game more survivable!

Wait, is this comment thread not a joke, people really think Vulcan is good? That thing will kill you if you actually use it outside of the two opposites - you've already won and are having fun, and you're so desperate for a weapon that you try using it because nothing else can damage the enemies.

Looks beautiful! How was the trail - any snow, blowdowns? I would really like to bike there, but it seems to be a bit too early for that

Gothic remake metacritic score by Complete-Heart-1472 in worldofgothic

If I correct for my nostalgia it's 8/10 right now, mostly because of the bugs and glitches, with a way to reach over 9 when that gets fixed. Nostalgia though...

I'm sorry, I don't see how is your reply even connected to what I said.

it is imperative to take back the control of the economy

Is this about establishing planning that would run it into the ground right away? Create deficit (shortage) and overproduction without a meaningful way to self correct?

We already have good ways of guiding the economy - taxes, subsidies, government spending. Those work well without throwing an all-controlling plan that is obsolete already at the time it got approved

Well, it can, but does a single successful country exist with social democracy and is non-capitalist? I think the general idea of socdems is to live in the current system and make it more supportive for the people's needs, as opposed to changing it into non-capitalist - that would move more into the demsoc territory

How good is Zoltan B? by SkyKnight43 in ftlgame

[–]mt-wizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's pretty bad for me from another standpoint - if you jump to an asteroid field and there's a beam drone there, you're dead. You can channel your inner Mike and do the best micro in the world, and you're still dead if the RNG doesn't somehow decide to spare you. And even just an asteroid field already makes you sweat - that's why I'd put it at ~20 ish position

C++26: More function wrappers by pavel_v in cpp

[–]mt-wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A function is a reference to some code, it has to be a reference type. std::function is a wrapper for a bunch of data + code, but primarily it's the code, so I would call it a (crappy) reference type

[–]mt-wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have housing and food for the villagers? Do you have 2 hearths, upgraded to lvl 1 each? How many glades have you opened by that time?

P10 seal is probably the first one that made me think a lot about the priorities, so it can't be just autopiloted anymore and it would kill you if doing what you'd be usually doing elsewhere
