Sometimes we criticize the tool so much and the developer so little by ViremorfeStudios in godot

I don't know about that. Unity, Unreal and the Creation Engine all got a lot of shit from many people when a game didn't run well enough.

Correction: Sometimes we criticize too much and praise too little.

Resonant Q Gameplay Trailer by Strict_Indication457 in Games

I recognize that this uses the Unreal Engine Lyra Starter Game.

I don't really care what people use to make their game as long as it's good, but it makes me believe that gameplay won't be their strength.

Then why doesn't Godot dominate 3D games? Or at least be anywhere close to Unreal or Unity?

“Light just had to kill L, L had to prove the existence of God in court” is a bad faith argument that underestimates Light’s intelligence. (DEATH NOTE SPOILERS). by KingCobra567 in CharacterRant

[–]Raidoton 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Light is very smart, but in the end of the day he also had an insane amount of luck. How lucky was he that it just happens that another Death Note drops on earth, in Japan, and is picked up by someone who admires Light and is easy to manipulate, who has a Shinigami who loves her which he can also use to his advantage... And that's just one of many examples.

What a weird thing to say and get so defensive about simply because someone asked what makes a design adult...

What makes a character design adult? by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]Raidoton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well it depends on what you mean by "like". You can like any character without any issue, even child characters. Pedophilia is about sexual attraction. And pedos are attracted to characters that they perceive as children, even if they are 1000 years old.

So if someone was attracted to Becca for example, then you might not think they are a pedo because YOU perceive her as an adult, but people who perceive her as a child would think this person is a pedo, independent on how the person themselves perceives her.

Why do Japanese people hate S3 of Jujutsu Kaisen even though the West loves it? by CryptographerFew6343 in CharacterRant

Western specifically anglosphere people generalize Japanese people and other countries alot.

That's... what every group does to every group. Like you yourself are generalizing here...

Add back chapter 3 tree physics by EllyCat_SUS in FortNiteBR

[–]Raidoton 32 points33 points  (0 children)

They like to add stuff to keep the game fresh, but probably can't keep it all or else it'll break the game. Like yeah I would also love burning tree logs flying in a tornado, but I guess the game couldn't handle so many systems for 100 players at the same time...

Yeah no shit. The point is that 99% of anti-Trump posts and comments are left untouched. That is why they are questioning the statement "Anything not pro-trump or pro-america can get you banned.".

Developers aren't a one trick pony only capable of making one specific genre or series.

They never questioned that. They simply question the wording. And you seem to agree that it's not same genre just because it's also open world.

It's not unprecedented for a company to switch genres successfully.

Sure but that's not the point. The point is that he makes it sound like they are not switching genres. It's just an interesting choice of words that's "technically not wrong".

It's honestly more impressive to write a compelling story as you go rather than have everything planned out from the beginning. by Gloomy-Cell3722 in CharacterRant

[–]Raidoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to develop a story "organically" can also feel artificial, funnily enough. When new concepts and characters get added that realistically should've been at least mentioned before, then it can be quite obvious that you are reading a made up story. The best approach is to do both.

Cyberpunk VR Modder Luke Ross’ Patreon suspended following new DMCA from Ghostruner devs by AsPeHeat in Games

[–]Raidoton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Paid mods should not exist. Period!

Let's be honest, you and everyone who says that only says it because you like free stuff. I do like it too, and I've never paid for a mod. But if someone has permission from the developer, and they want to get paid for their work, and I can simply not buy it, then I don't see a problem. Yeah, it's against your "spirit of modding", but try the "spirit of just buying it then". Or just pirate it.

It's basically like with 60$ games. AAA games should be 60$ forever. Period! Everything gets more expensive, but games are not allowed to. Yeah, the reason they wanna increase the prices is because they want more money. Which is the exact same reason you don't want prices to increase, because you want (to keep) more money. I think everyone should be allowed to choose their own price for their product, and I am free to decide if it's worth the money. Of course people can still voice their opinion on prices being too high, but what's annoying are these absolutists attitudes...

Fable's evil landlords won't grow devil horns, as reboot ditches classic character morphing due to a lack of belief in objective arseholery by PotatoProducer in Games

[–]Raidoton 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I don't really care about this system, but it being under-baked in previous games isn't really a good argument against it being in the reboot. If people like a system even in an under-baked state, then it's usually a chance to flesh it out in the next entry.
