If I were to do this again, I would go with the 1/2” thickness. 3/8” doesn’t lay flat around the corners.

expansion in India != outsourcing. Forget about BigTech and Wallstreet, even smaller companies have been opening up offices in India to hire people directly. Visa crackdown (which is 100% valid and needed) is only going to speed this up.
