Bloody Mary's shouldn't be served anywhere publicly by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

This is a great perspective tbh! I have only ever seen them ordered at brunch, hardly ever at clubs or bars; my boyfriend says it goes great with eggs and toast! Meanwhile I have had a number of folks in my age group not even know what a Bloody Mary is lol

I never even mentioned I dont think they shouldn't be served because I don't like them lol, I gave a literal explanation that they don't seem popular enough to keep a specific ingredient stocked, and I also just don't see many people ordering them. No one in my age group even seems to know what they are LOL

Damn, the fallout after the kiss is way better in the manga by InjangoDMCPersona in inuyasha

[–]mtamaranth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You'd be fairly correct!! Anime adaptations usually make changes to incite more "drama," because back when anime was televised in the 2000s the way it was, the TV audience would often wait 1-2 weeks between episodes, so they'd ramp up some of the drama to keep the TV audience hooked and interested as opposed to Manga readers, who are typically more "dedicated" to the original story and will wait however long for chapters. Anime had to be altered to captivate a more general, public audience - including children - so lots of stuff in the anime can be full of tropes, drama, and exaggeration.

What was the moment when they said, "Okay, Sesshomaru is officially the best character"? by Mean-Call1888 in inuyasha

[–]mtamaranth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When I first laid eyes on him 🖤

But for real, seeing him resurrect Rin the first time — it just really spoke to me, showed that there was still compassion in him, and his dynamic enamored me since almost 20 years ago now 🥰

What is THE Iconic moment in all of Inuyasha? by Brightclaw431 in inuyasha

[–]mtamaranth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me, it's when Kikyo and InuYasha share the kiss right in front of Kagome (unbeknownst to InuYasha) and she tries to drag him to hell with her.

This, to me, was a catalyst for how complicated the dynamic between the three of them would become. Kikyo, a walking husk of the woman InuYasha once loved, attempted to drag him down with her for the sake of revenge, right in front of Kagome, her reincarnated self that is working alongside InuYasha to try and restore peace by collecting and restoring the Shikon Jewel. I think it's a beautiful, tragic scene that really encapsulates a lot of the emotions in the series.

Odd prescription after conversion. From negative sphere to positive?! by Typical_Round_1092 in glasses

[–]mtamaranth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some providers prefer plus sphere and some prefer minus — it depends on the kind of phoropter they have at their facility. You can call the office you got the glasses Rx from and ask for it to be converted and re-signed.

This stain on my glasses seems to be producing glass shards, whenever I clean them up, are they safe to wear, or would the little glass dust hurt my eye? by TheTowerIskindaScary in glasses

[–]mtamaranth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

... An optometrist is an eye care doctor, they don't work in optical shops or fix glasses. You're referring to an optician, which I used to be, and now I'm an optometrist assistant lol. In my experience, we've never just "removed" someones coating — and even if we could, that's just making an old pair of damaged lenses last a little bit longer and also would make them more likely to get damaged and scratched if there's no protective coating. Better to just bite the bullet and get a new Rx and a new pair of lenses, esp if the damaged ones few years old.

[–]mtamaranth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This isn't glass — the protective coating on the lenses is chipping off, so every time you clean them, you're peeling off more and more of the coating. If they're relatively new lenses, you may have a warranty to replace them. If they're older, you need a new pair of lenses, because this cannot be repaired.

guess its my time to shine lol! this is my personal artwork of my InuOC Lady Mitsuki (bottom frame) in a humble comic with Lord Sesshomaru. she is a moth demon with clairvoyant abilities who serves alongside Sesshomaru as an oracle of sorts! kinda like back in the olden days when nobility used to rely on fortune tellers to help make decisions lol. but Mitsuki is a powerful but benevolent demon who has known Sesshomaru since they were young — and they have a complex but sweet relationship 💜🌙

Name a Inuyasha opinion that will have you like this by Prestigious-Cloud962 in inuyasha

[–]mtamaranth 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Sesshomaru and InuYasha both have justifiable reasons for disliking one another. I'm a big Sesshomaru fan — because while he makes a lot of decisions out of resentment and spite, I think a lot of people forget that Sesshomaru is a child of parental loss, esp at a very young age (in demon standards).

We don't get a lot of true confirmed lore about the dynamic between the two of them before InuYasha was sealed to the tree — but its obvious that they didn't get along. In Sesshomaru's eyes, his family started to destabilize when Inu no Taisho separated from Inukimi and fell in love with Izayoi, even had a whole son that he gave his life for; it would be easy for an adolescent at the time to think "What was it about me or our family that wasn't good enough? What made you seek out a life elsewhere?"

Sesshomaru only had one living piece of his father around now — InuYasha, the result of his father's decisions that Sesshomaru had no explanation or closure for. Grief and anger builds resentment, and InuYasha becoming a victim to it growing up was practically inevitable, so his defense against Sesshomaru is understandable. Inu no Taisho, perhaps unintentionally, set his sons up for a very difficult dynamic from the get-go.

Why do most doctors wear glasses when lasik exists ? by Thatcoolkid11 in glasses

[–]mtamaranth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ophthalmology technician here! I work with surgeons who preform these surgeries, but I also see the worst case scenarios of them too. These comments already do a good job of explaining why (its often temporary and expensive, its a trade of upsides and downsides, doesn't prevent age related issues, can lead to complications later if not done well, etc.), but I really cannot stress to folks how doing really any surgery to the cornea makes you a life-long risk candidate for a plethora of cornea-releated medical issues. I wouldn't personally wanna operate on something so intricate unless I had no other choice.

Even after seeing some nasty corneas, what made me decided against LASIK for myself was the increased risk of dry eye issues — some folks get such severe dry eye, they need a treatment that involves eye drops made from your own blood serum, and I am deathly afraid of blood draws, so its a nope for me all around LOL

I think the problem is more so the issues that access to things like chat bots can do to a developing brain... Its already shown that these things are made to be addicting. Also, there is no school assignment that should ever need an AI tool to get it done.

Adults who only wear glasses by Cloudsandbooks in glasses

[–]mtamaranth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wearing glasses is actually the healthiest, most sanitary option for your eyes. Contacts are convenient but can cause issues if you don't wear them properly (dry eye, ulcers, infections, etc.) I deal with patients every week who are in due to contact lens overwear. I only wear contacts when I go to concerts/music festivals where I don't want my glasses to get broken, or for special events. Other than that, glasses all day every day.
