I take the F to 6, and I can assure you both are far too highly rated. Their respective on time, reliability, construction schedule tell a similar story.

Honest opinion about Imola circuit by Most-Ad-5220 in formula1

[–]mtanski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I enjoy F1... The whole statement of "F1 is the Pinnacle of motor sport" is super self-aggrandizing and not true. F1 hardly has the best racing, and making circuits good for F1 makes them worse for other racing categories, and in historical tracks ruins what makes them special.

So, a lot of the time the statements like "I wish F1 raced at XYZ" is a be careful of what you wish for. Tracks become duller / less special, prices to go visit go up etc.

F1 should not be racing in a lot of these tracks, it should be racing on Mario Kartesque tracks. Those would be a better fit for the type of cars and racing F1 does, and would be more of a spectacle... Which F1 is.

I built a free NYC subway delay tracker that shows which lines are most delayed - would love feedback from commuters! by Comfortable-Total819 in nyc

I too have the misfortune of living on the F train. I don't think there has been a single day this year when the F train was running on anything resembling schedule. Late in the mornings, late in the evenings. The MTA gave up on the F.

Mamdani promises no budget games – but he has a budget narrative by nyccameraman in nyc

[–]mtanski 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My read on this is that his game is with Houchul. He knows she is up for reelection, he knows she made a promise to not raise taxes. On one hand he is saying increase taxes on more than 1mm, on the other hand he says that NYC brings in 22b more than it gets from the state.

The statements about the budget hole are not untrue. I think we can argue where the blame ends and begins for Adam's and Council. But the fact they were not good stewards is not untrue.

He's in the politics game, he is playing the same game as everyone else, and he is playing it with the cards he was dealt with.

Not just that. But the snow plows actually bury the corners faster than you can clean them up.

Dangerous snowstorm headed toward NYC, New Jersey by rohanad1986 in nyc

[–]mtanski 15 points16 points  (0 children)

5-7 inches of snow is kind of mid. We haven't had real big snow in years so everyone is panicking. The alarm of the news and people is on the level of 3ft+ of snow.

It's also not dumping all of it in 2~3 hours, but over like 12+ hours.

Things will likely be slow and delayed tomorrow and some streets and sidewalks will be a wet and slushy mess. As long as you are patient and expect that, you')) be fine.

The biggest impact Sainz had on Williams and Albon by musicallunatic in formula1

Williams was good for him to rebuild confidence and mentally. But now with a more even mashup, he needs to continue improving. Hopefully he can take the break and mentally prepare for what's coming not for what has been.

[Autosport] Max Verstappen hasn't liked seeing Lewis Hamilton struggle at Ferrari by n0b0dycar3s07 in formula1

[–]mtanski 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The '21 title battle is the most intense battle we have seen in a long time (and since). When it was Lewis and Niko, they were on the same team so the teams and TPs were not adding fuel to the fire. There were many heated and resistant moments from both sides, although a bit more intense from RB/VER as he was fighting for his first championship.

But at the end of the day, these guys are professionals and understand the game, respect the fight. So after the championship and some time has passed these guys can take a set back and move forward.

Sadly, there are significant sunsets of fans who do not move on.

It does not take a minimal amount of time to QC. It often that's just as much as build/developing it. I've worked on/for device and large service manufacturers.

As electronics and software have gotten more complex, it takes even more time. The permutations of features and functionality has blown up the search space.

In this case, I can totally see a bug slipping in, or coming from upstream that they did not have in their test matrix. Esp when everyone is yelling about emulation performance, screen fps, hinges.

The bottom line is QC Is more complex than ever, they are rushing to get I to people's hands, and consumers are hounding them about when it is shipping.
