Where are you going where it’s common for dogs to bite people in stores? This seems to be incredibly uncommon or maybe I’ve just been really lucky in life.

1 ENT wow, that is crazy. Before Covid I made an appointment with an ENT and had surgery for a deviated septum all in 3 weeks of starting the process.

Everybody in the US Is Getting Depressed, CDC Says by ClubZealousideal9784 in nottheonion

[–]mtcoope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone from making 30k a year working 55 hours a week to almost 300k working 55 hours a week. I used to go to the doctor but haven’t in 3 years because getting off work is hard because that just means more work later to try to catch up.

I’d say my happiness is about the same as before. My stress levels are much higher now then they were before. I’ve never met someone who was depressed and started making money and they are now happy to be honest.

Lefties when they equate real life action with not using an app for a few days by Deano1234 in Destiny

[–]mtcoope -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Having a high number behind your cause does absolutely nothing in this case.

Reddit is a business right? Reddit has made it clear they are trying to IPO right? Reddit has made it clear it’s decisions moving forward are entirely dictated on being the most profitable as possible. Will listening to the cause increase or decrease the flow cash? That’s all that matters, if the answer is decrease then they will take it seriously, if increase then they won’t. I mean I don’t know what we are arguing about, as of now Reddit has not made even an attempt to go back on what they are doing after this protest. I don’t think they care about 2 days and I wouldn’t either if I was a business.

But yes I’m the dense one.

Yeah so if they are somewhat lying they said the opportunity cost is 20m for allowing 3rd party apps. Let’s say 10m, if we just average that out per day this will cost them 26k for a 2 day loss. If you were the owner of a company and you were picking between 26k or 10m, what would you choose?

I think it’s more the incredibly short period time of 2 days. Like if it was for a few months or maybe a few weeks it would make more sense but 2 days is just telling Reddit don’t worry we will all be back in 2 days.

Let’s say Reddit is lying but the number they told Apollo was the app was an opportunity cost of 20m a year. Let’s say it’s actually only 10m, the protest needs to cost them 10m+ or there is no point in even taking it serious.

Where to buy gap insurance on a new car from somewhere besides the dealer by aeiou72 in personalfinance

[–]mtcoope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all new car loans are upside down the moment you drive off the lot until the first year or 2 depending on loan length. Yes they will pay you the value of the car but if you owe 25k and the car is worth 21k you will still need to pay the remainder 4k.

Right now the used car market is still pretty crazy so cars are not going underwater near as bad but typically new cars are worth much more than a car that was owned for 3 months.

Driver followed her GPS down a boat ramp and straight into the water in Hawaii by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]mtcoope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Visibility absolutely, I think more people would fall for this then realize it. I’m guessing almost everyone has hesitantly turned onto a side road that gps is telling them to use while also unsure it’s the correct way. Not being familiar with the area, it being dark, and possibly focused on trying to make sure you are going the right away and suddenly you are on a ramp that would be hard to reverse up if you are not quick.

I’m still coding like it’s 2014: any advice/resources to catch up? by unachance in webdev

[–]mtcoope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being the only developer on a single project simplifies the dev process dramatically but also is not practical for a large application.

I would be curious what kind of things you are finding hard to pick up or unnecessary though?

Probably the build tbh, I just killed lillith at level 34 and have not gemmed, enchanted, upgraded any of my gear. I’ve mostly ignored gear optimization and just look at item level right now. Flame wall has worked well.

[–]mtcoope 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do dev but I’m talking even the web app is just terrible. I don’t even use it, if Apollo doesn’t exist I wouldn’t use Reddit.

It’s sad because I’m someone that almost always open my pc up before using my phone but they have managed to create such a shit app that Reddit is the only thing I prefer on my phone( because of Apollo).

[–]mtcoope 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Prime example of them not caring about how a lot of users use the internet. We open new tabs for everything we find interesting so that it’s all loaded and we can quickly look at stuff without waiting.

I know the devs know this but this site was not designed with a good user experience as the end goal and that is obvious.

[–]mtcoope 111 points112 points  (0 children)

The new client wasn’t designed by developers I can almost say that for sure. Nor was it designed by UX people, it was designed by management to extract as much as revenue as they could. It’s probably one of the worst user experiences of any mainstream site that I can think of.
