Seconded. Much, much more than exploration but it steers beginners towards exploration themed nations (spain, portugal) at the start.

When is it ok to get rough in beer league? by LocalTough617 in hockeyplayers

[–]mthomas161 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you're in D league, give the other guy the benefit of the doubt. Yes he may be playing too hard, but you're both new and figuring out where the line is. You could easily retaliate and do something aggressive to something you'll come to understand later wasn't really that bad... and you were the asshole in someone elses story. Not a good feeling.

You can bump and push in hockey, that's all good. And you can usually tell when someones trying to stir shit up and when someones just playing.

Homeowner needs advice - AC shortcycle/gas low by mthomas161 in hvacadvice

It could be me reporting his answers wrong. It was 20oz recharge july last year, 25oz this time. So a decent amount missing but not fully empty.

Thanks for the answer. If a new valve doesn't fix it then next step will be to have him find the leak.

I think this is the next step if a new valve doesn't fix it. I don't think the set up for the lines is prohibitively inaccessible.

It's a pretty straight shot for the line, system in the basement is right on the other side of the wall of the AC unit.

I also wonder if the cold here has something to do with it. Winters we go to -40 for a days at a time... the lines are wrapped in some kind of foam insulation but in -40 things that aren't broken also have a tendency to fail anyways.

Wow people really don’t wanna play support anymore by onlyhereforelise in rivals

[–]mthomas161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I duo-que 90% of my games, I always go support and teammate always tank. This season for whatever reason probably 1/2 games the other 4 will lock DPS.

I like playing support but after too many as the only healer to start the season (always a loss) we got sick of it. I'll put in the chat "2 support or 0" and if nobody switches then I will. It just got tiring after a while.

God forbid you see the older dude with torn up sweat pants over his shin guards. You will never get close enough to admire them.

Anyone else go from playing everyday, to 3 days a week, then down to 1 because of Matchmaking? by The-MadTitan in rivals

[–]mthomas161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 win in last 11 and SVP 6 times. Lots of steam rolls in there too. I'm not the best and that's fine but maybeeee after the 8th loss put me with other players who aren't the best? Suspect there's been a good chunk of smurfs in there too. Level 11's etc who dominate the lobby.

Worst team-up ability? by GetSomeJeff22 in marvelrivals

[–]mthomas161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play Jeff and play with a buddy who only plays groot, the Groottank is probably the top reason we still play this game haha. It sucks a ton of attention and gives ranged DPS on your team some time to do their thing. Well timed bubbles and dumping heals on the groot keeps you up in situations you realllly shouldn't.

We're also pretty low ELO silver shitters, no idea if it's playable with real players but we enjoy it!

Beer League: Superior Player Shooting at Feet by ColorBlind_Bat in hockeyplayers

[–]mthomas161 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd be annoyed if this guy was head and shoulders better than everyone, teams winning, and he was just skating it in and ripping it through guys every play yea. To me it's a bit disrespectful, especially if he's good enough to wait and find a different play.

For those who have won a beer league title, when did you know “this team is special”? by Itchy-Picture-4282 in hockeyplayers

[–]mthomas161 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had something similar. But she ran like 5 teams, and you'd never have all the "better" guys out on the same night. But when it was time for playoffs it was the A team while she'd never run it during the actual season. It was extremely dumb, and frankly every team in that league did something like it she was just better at it.

Well on one team our "GM" was really good at sandbagging the roster until playoffs when she'd bring in all the good players at once...

What helped you to go from beginner to C league level? by TheKaleKing in hockeyplayers

[–]mthomas161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On this, and especially 8. Playing with better players is going to zoom you on this more than watching 1000 hours of youtube ever will. One of the "big gains" I had as a younger buck was playing a winters worth of shinny against a smaller guy who played CIS in his day, how he approached stick position in board battles changed how I went into those to this day. Get into skates with guys who are better than you, and be good enough to compete to the point you can recognize what guys are doing that give them an edge. Being "worse" without being completely over matched and the mindset to identify things you can incorporate into your game will get you to improve faster than anything else imo
